Biggest tires for 64W's

Anybody know the answer to this?

I need to upgrade my tires but hate to go to lose the Polished Bullits. I can't find any Bullits that match that are 18 x 10's

I probably need to go to at least 285's. Any ideas?

Largest recommended size is 255/45/18 without sacrificing handling.
A 285/40/18 will fit, but wider than recommened for 8.5" wheel

What is the downside to going with 285's on the 8.5 rims? Would dropping to 275 make a significant difference?

Thanks for the advice

lose some diameter in the tire, creating more wheel well gap.
much more sidewall flex with going to a tire size that's not recommended for the wheel width.

will the 285/40 perform better overall then the stock 235/50 on the same rim?
