Just got my 06 and per request no dealer plate frames. Now where should I look for a classy license plate frame? Maybe slightly smoked cover, too. Any recommendations?

I just switched out my factory ones for these: Crusier: Clear Bubble Shield

The holes stand out much more in the picture but are recessed so that the frame attaches flush. Looks sharp if you don't want any "frame" around the plate. I personally felt that the frames I was looking at drew attention towards the plate which I didn't like. I even bolted on a chrome "Mustang" plate and didn't like the look.

They are meant to sit nice and flush and not bow out like the cheap frames. They come in clear, tint, blue etc...

I might put up pics of my car in the next two-three days which will have the frames on it so stay tuned.

I got them from a Honda Dealer but you can get them almost anywhere.

For the cover you can go to a parts store. (AutoZone, PepBoys, Advance, O'Riely's, etc) They have smoked and clear, bubble and flat.

Hey, Dan. A factory license plate frame? Sounds pretty rare. Better hang on to that!

I got mine at http://www.autoattire.com/licplatfram.html.

I like the look of just plain, simple chrome - classy, but not distracting, like if the frame has writing or a picture on it. The Autoattire website, though, has lots of options.

Simple is better. I see you ordered the 4 hole frame for the back and was wondering if the 2 or 4 hole works best with the factory front plate bracket. I want to place an order now but I'm still waiting for my car.
I wish my state would drop the front plate requirement.

I know what you mean, looks so much better without it.

BTW, since I had the dealer not install a front bracket, do I need a special license plate bracket to fit the contour of the front bumper?

I live in CA. Here we need a front license plate. I went to Target and bought some suction cups. I put them in the holes of the plate with cup facing away from lettering. Press against prefferd side aof windsheild and your in business!

As far as plate frames, I got mine from the mall. Crome plated engraved with 2005 MUSTANG. Cast me $50 for both. I only use 1 though!

Yeah, the front one should only have the 2 holes, as there is no place for the bottom 2 holes.

Here's the best picture I have - sorry no straight-on photo, but this should show you what I mean.

Yep. ADRENAL was on my '94GT and initially used them on the '05.
But I felt GTYUP V8 was a better fit with the new GT.

Thanks everybody for the feedback! This place rocks!

But now for my poor paint! It seems kind of cruel to just screw a hard plastic frame into the beautiful painted bumper directly on the paint. It's gonna make me feel like a mean ol'ranch hand putting an ugly brand burn on a beautiful pony.

Also, the front plate just screws right into the plastic?

There are 2 small "dents" on the front bumper, which are guides for where to drill. I forget the bit size I used, but just match it up with the screw size you're going to use.

I know a lot of folks here cringe about drilling into their bumper, but when I finally made the decision to do it, I just thought - I'm gonna have to have this plate on no matter what; don't really plan on moving to Pennsylvania or anywhere where front plate is not required - and once it is drilled and the plate on, it's not like you can see the (very small) holes. So what the hey.

I also wanted to make sure it came out looking as clean as possible since these cars really do look better w/o the front plate. All things considered, I think I did a pretty good job - the front doesn't look horrible even with the plate.

A couple people on these boards have fabricated brackets (Werked66 comes to mind, because I actually saw his) to hold the plate so that you don't have to drill. You should be able to do a search...

Good luck!
