60-series tires
All,
Is anyone running 60-series tires on their car? I'm considering going with a wider tread and slightly higher sidewall (although not by much, the stock sidewall is a 55 series) on a 17"x9" wheel.
Thanks in advance!

If you go with a wider tread width and a 60 series sidewall, the tire will likely be way to tall and will rub. The way tire sizes work, is the middle number (the "55" in a 235/55-17) in a tire size isn't a fixed height, it is a ratio based on the width, so if you went with a wider tire, but kept the same aspect ratio ("55" in this case) you'd end up with taller sidewalls.
In other words, a 235/55-17 and a 255/50-17 tire are the same diameter, but the 255 is nearly an inch wider. You might have trouble finding taller 17" tires than stock though, our stock tire diameter is already pretty tall for 17" car tires.

Ah, grasshopper...now it all seems so clear to me! Ok, I thought I was nuts, it seemed like the tires I was looking at were shrinking as I looked for wider treads for the wheels I am running during the summer. Thanks a lot for the info, Keith!
