2005 Antenna Removal
Was just curious if anyone that has removed and replaced their antenna could give me a step by step "Antenna for Idiot's" guide. Got a new one coming and will replace mine in next day or two.
I wrapped a towel around the base of the antenna and used a rubber set of pliers to help unscrew it. ( this is done so you dont scratch the base black paint off while trying to unscrew it)......It is very hard to start it, then it just unscrews and you replace the new one.
I used some electric tape to wrap around the base, and I think it was a 10mm wrench. Just loosen it up a little then unscrew it. I put a dab of Loctite on the new one's threads, and screwed it in, wrapped electric tape around the base and tightened it up with the wrench again. Easy, 5 minutes, tops.

has anyone noticed by changing out your antenna worse radio reception? Just curious because I have thought about changing mine as well
I picked up a 14" shorty antenna off ebay and the radio reception is unchanged. I don't use the radio that much since I can hold so many mp3's in the shaker - but the look of the stock antenna was buggin me.
