18 rim too wide for my v6

I bought a mustang V6 2008 and later I bought from a gt 2007 four wheels, two of them where 18x9 and the other 18x10. We put them on the v6 and first it doesn't look good like in the pictures, is 10th anniversary cobra, the wheels are lifting too much the car so my mechanic is telling me we have to cut the stock springs, or buy new ones so it can look good, but that's no the end of my problem, the rear wheels are 18x10, I know they are wider but now they are with tire 295/35 and it goes out of the edge like 2 inches, it looks like a monster truck, does buying a set of new tires can solve the problem or what can I do to make them fit and look nice and classy,

Thanks

I have to see pics of this. That doesn't sound right at all.

Interesting. The wheels can't be off a stock 07 GT because there have not been 18x10" wheels stock. Do you know what the offset and backspacing is on the rims? a 295/35 tire should not be too tall. Also lowering the car could definitely help with the way it will look. If the wheels stick out nearly two inches the offset and backspacing is not correct for your car. Would love to some pics if you could post some up.

Sounds like somebody bought some new edge rims and sold them to you. Their back spacing will stick them out.

You must have bought wheels from the previous models. They fit our s197 but the spacing is waaaay different I had staggered 18 like yours with a 11 1/4 wide tire in the back and it fit perfect

And cutting springs, um no, time for a new mechanic. Check your backspacing on them.
