Its funny to see how the balance of power has shifted
Boston Got Chara
Rangers made a few big signings, including Shanahan, who will be a good addition. There is talk of them bringing back Brian Leetch
The Leafs signed Hal Gill and Pavel Kubina. Kubina will add anothe weapon on the powerplay. Gill is a big player, I don't know how effective he is with all the speed
Ottawa lost Chara and had to give away Martin Havlat because of contract issues as well, but they added a decent goaltendender in Martin Gerber, although they seem to have Philadelphia Flyers syndrome of the late 90's where they had a stacked team and an average goalie

The Flyers are doing a whole lot of nothing....
Baumbgartner was the only signing of note....
Eric Desjardins is retiring.
Gagne and Pitkanen are still unsigned.
There is talk of the Flyers signing Anson Carter, but that's cooled off lately...

I'm not so sure about the Rangers' addition of Shanahan. They almost like look they're reverting to their late '90's/early '00's model of signing old players to long and/or expensive contracts. Remember, Brendan will be 38 midway through the upcoming season. That said, he did put up good numbers (40 G, 40 A) last season. As my brother's a huge Rangers fan, I'm hoping that Shanahan can give the Rangers some offensive firepower for a few seasons. They need someone in addition to Jagr.

I kinda enjoy it when a team from NY screws themself over.
It is too bad also though, hockey is in enough trouble as it is, it doesnt help when a big market team becomes the laughingstock of the sports world.
