Never mind. I won't respond any more. (So no more fight). But I think you need to reread what happened. Someone asked who was buying, I said "no" and a briefly why. You needed to jump in and criticize (without knowing why) and make such intelligent tripe as NOTHING would make me happy, and called me a spoiled ingrate because I was hoping Ford would actually compete with the Euros and the Japanese on something other than HP. I clarified, so you insecurely attacked that as well. Then said I was picking a fight. Whatever. But since you offered the last word, I took it. Now let's see if your word is as good as your memory.

I'm in!! I went to my SVT Dealer in Saskatoon (Canada) and there is a list started. Deposits ranging from $1000 - $5000. $1000 secured me #9 on the list. This dealer is the second largest dealer in western Canada and is also a Saleen dealer. Not bad for a place that has snow on the ground 5 months of the year. If there's not enough cars to go around in the first year, at least I'll be one of the first for the second year of production.

Although I want a Shelby, I have been leaning towards an SE or 2006 Mustang GT. That $40k price tag for a Shelby is starting to scare me off.

Depends on what you're after. If you buy a GT, then you have $15K to spend giving it performance & looks that are comparable to the GT500. $15K sounds like a lot, but it goes very quickly. If you'd be happy with 300 horsepower, get the GT. Some of us are spoiled, and we gotta have it all... Ford can do upgrades a lot cheaper than the cost of aftermarket parts.

Me? I'm 1st on the local dealer's list, planning to get one asap, as long as there is no mark-up from them. If there is, I plan to wait, as I refuse to pay extra hard-earned $$$ to have one first.

I'm with you there, I'm third on one list and fifth on another. At least one has indicated they will sell at MSRP, we'll see if that holds. I'll pay MSRP but no more. I'll wait if necessary to get what the car I want for MSRP.

Me. Must have this car. I need a replacement for my 97 and I want this to be it. Do you hear me FORD? I want another SVT. I do not want a sticker pkg. nor a posor car that to thrill the rice/bling crowd. I want what I paid for 8 yrs ago. A special mustang with the money invested in the good stuff(engine, brakes, suspension).

I was just wondering who is going to buy or try to buy the new Shelby GT 500?I am planing on buying an 08 or 09,and keeping it for the rest of my life.
So far the Shelby seems to be a good value but I think I will wait until 2008 or 2009 to get one. I am not interested in a wait list and if they really sell then I believe they will up the production. And you can always get them on consignment from someone who suddenly lost the ability to make those $600 month payments.

I put a $1000 down payment on one in July. The Dealer wrote on the form "STICKER PRICE" and "Customer can cancel at any time". I just hope they don't try to pull a fast one when it comes time to actually put the order in! It's a long wait but I'm more and more anxious each day. At the time, he told me that I was the first one to put a deposit down, he said that I was a forward thinking man. He thought he was going to get a lot of them but it was the very next day that he got an "E" mail from Ford that all the dealers got explaining the allotment program. I think he was sorry that he committed to sticker price. He is also a Saleen Dealer he tried to get me to buy a Saleen at sticker but I said no thanks.
