My scale gets tipped by performance and design. The name, status, or future standing are irreverent to me.

* Sorry for the typo guys, it should be "It has the Shelby name".

I am 45 years old, I was a kid in 1967/68 and the GT500 made an indelible mark on my young male psyche. So even though it looks like I voted with the majority, when the news came out that it would be badged as a GT500 I was very pleased. I will own this car, but I would will buy it because of its abilities and the female dogin interior. The Shelby Cobra GT500 badging is icing on the cake.

"female"?

Combo of things, not just one thing specific. I can finally buy a Shelby Mustang which is in mint shape, not 40 years old, and in my price range. The fact that it is a more modern car with 450HP+ is another gold star.

It brings the days of long ago. Ahh back in a time when my life was much simplier and my body was a world of difference. And I could not afford a Shelby because of insurance costs. I'm still young at heart, even if my heart is damaged. But, today I can still bang those gears and afford the insurance and attorney too.

I'll take one of those youth pills please.

Well you know I don't think its really a throw back car at all, other than the fact that it resembles mustangs of old. I mean do we think of the current corvette as a stingray throwback? I think the new mustangs are a symbol of what they would have become anyway...had it not been for economic/fuel/bean counter issues the past three decades.

Isn't it the only American muscle car on the market?

The blower and forged motor make it great platform for modification, in the tradition of the Supra Turbo, Buick GN, etc.
