I distinctly remember a couple guys on this board that were alleged "insiders" that were very adament about Ford unvieling 2 cars at the NY auto show. Welp...there was only one, so where are they now?

Perhaps they were talking about the Sport Trac Adrenaline?

Its an SVT product. 390 horsepower supercharged 4.6 out of the 03/04 cobra, all wheel drive, 6 speed auto, and 4 wheel independent suspension.

More horsepower, smaller size, more gears, and better traction than the Lightning.

http://media.ford.com/newsroom/feature_dis...m?release=20266

But I agree with you about the "Insiders" or people with "sources". So many have been wrong in the past and fought for those wrong opinions. If I dont hear it from Brad I dont believe it. There were some on the other stang sites claiming that their "Sources" said there would be no SVT ever again and Ford was disbanding the group and that Brad was wrong about the unveiling at New York.

What you see at the auto show is not the final product.

Why the confrontational attitude?

My info said that Ford would probably be taking 2 cars but there was only one shown. I also stated that my source said that only 1 car may be shown.

So, if you are including me in your couple of 'alledged insiders', you are wrong. And if you go back and read the info I was provided and passed on to this board, you will also see that the vast majority of that info was dead-on.

Happy now?

Purportedly 90% of what the production car will be.

Seriously no reason to get aggressive towards these guys. There was a lot of information flying around. I am glad to see one car though. No need to spread it thin when you could focus all your energy into one.

The "Shelby" involvement was the suprise. I think the 10% that doesn't make it could include that. It seems internally it was always referred to as "The Cobra" and not the "Shelby". So i think that was a bit of a change from the original plan. Would suit me just fine if they dropped his name off it. Might as well just bring back the "Bill Elliot Edition" Thunderbird.

Unbelievably similar.

(Hey, just thought I'd add to the chorus.)

Wouldn't it be more like the "Kurt Bush Fusion" these days?

Well, HTT said this would be the first production car of the modern era to wear the Shelby namne, so it looks like this is not part of the 10% not making the cut.

Get over the anti Shelby attitude, there would be no Mustang Cobras if it weren't for Shelby's involvement. And don't say that is history, so is the 2005 Mustang's design. I for one am happy about that too.

No I know what/who Scot is talking about.

Poster 'anaski'(spl?) specifically said 'there will be 2 cars. just wait and see tomorrow'
Talking about the NYIAS...where allegidly he was pointing in the direction that there would be an SVT cobra, and a Shelby GT500

It came it went, there was 1 car.....

Unless I trust the source, I won't believe it till I see it.
Very few REAL insiders on this site....

The leaks can be interpreted as teasing. I certainly did.

I distinctively remember some posts leading on, suggesting being knowledgeable on the subject to the point of mentioning "firings have taken place at Ford for leaking information". This individual conveyed the fact that he had the knowledge and it would happen. This implies being employed by Ford and not willing to risk loss of a job.

Clearing the air should not be viewed as being confrontational. Nor should anyone be scorned for erroneous information posted in good faith which they believed as factual and was passed to them with the intent to confuse. Maybe they got hossed as well. The teasers though, do not fall in that category.

Yeah, I can agree with that. The absolute best of intentions can end up with us putting a fot in out mouth and looking foolish.

He felt there could be more than one because of pictures in the background of the Shelby pics that were showing the car with different options. I don't recall the post where he stated as fact that there would "definitely" be 2 or more. From reading his posts and the pictures in the back ground I believe he may have been onto something. Atleast the pictures and his deduction gave credence to his way of thinking. Unlike everyone else being so closed minded and saying/thinking there is NO WAY THAT CAN BE but didn't give a valid reason as to why. So he was wrong, big deal. I guessed wrong too, oh well. As it is, there is still speculation SVT will do a Cobra since the Ford Shelby GT500 is NOT a Cobra. More the merrier, can you really have too many Mustangs? Hey isn't there supposed to be a Mach? If so, why not a Cobra too? We're all on the same team, we're all Power Rangers for life. Oh wait wrong forum! WOW that's embarrasing. $.02

This will blow your mind then:

The 06 color list was reported to brad by a person "with sources" that also said in the same thread that Ford would be producing a "California Special" edition 2005 Mustang.

That didn't happen, yet the colors are still on the site. They are probably just as wrong.
