I just called Saleen to see if they had any take-off upholstery and I was tole they don't remove it from the seats, they put seat covers over the seats. Can anyone with a Saleen confirm this? I would have expected more from a Saleen.

Hold on, what?....I have a Saleen and I can tell you that they don't just slap on a seat cover. Compare these two, they're not even the same shape.

I think the original poster was talking about the actual seat part, not the headrest.

Hahahaha....

You're right. They're not. (and it IS more than just the headrest that's different) I assume they only replace the foam and not the whole seat, but that would mean they'd have to pul off the original covers. So what do they do with the covers? Maybe I'll try calling back another day and hope I don't get the same guy.

I think you all are missing Jason's (STANGNUT) point. If Im understanding right, he's looking for the original seat covers that Saleen takes off the seats of the stock cars they rebuild as Saleens. Its juts like Roush or any of the other car builders, they take the stock seat covers off, and modify the seats however and then recover with thier own custom seat covers.

Which brings up a good point, Jason. What the heck does Salleen, Roush and all the others do with the stock seat covers they take off the cars?? I would think they would be open to any offers to sell them cheep to recoup some expense instead of just piling them up in a warehouse. Actually this gets me thinking what about the other stock parts that come off the cars , like 18"' fan blades and whtever else they may have . Only downside here is they may have some arrangement with Ford where Ford buys them back or something and they go back as new parts or something???I can think of a few things I would like to try with a spare set of seat covers like mine, or even better take two different colors and try my own Shelby version like med parchment seats with say black inserts!!

You know what we should try Jason is to email these companies and see where that goes.

I doubt it they would buy base GTs with 18" fanblades, they all probably just have the 17" bullits (just like Saleen was selling their 17"s take offs)

I've intended to call all of them and just haven't gotten around to it. Like I said before I think I just got the resident moron when I called Saleen.

I know for a fact Roush orders the cars stripped down because I found a dealer one time when I was waiting for my car that had several that matched my order. Spoiler delete, deluxe, with Shaker 500, but he said they were all ordered specifically for Roush "conversions".

If anyone finds out what they do with the seat covers, I'd love to know. I just want a spare set that's not overpriced... i.e. eBay.
