I got this mag finally. A few interesting tidbits, some have been mentioned already:

The seats do look like the higher quality textured leather.

10,000/year.
Jeez, what does it take to get a decent set of leather seats anymore???

10K per year? Well, the dealers can throw any AMV out the window now. There will be AMVs, but with 10K being built, and the market for a mustang at $40K+ being dramatically smaller, and finally the Challenger and Camaro possibly stealing the NAIAS, I think the demand may be tempered somewhat. If the Challenger and Camaro are beasts, then the GT500 will have to go on a diet, and get some aluminum components.

Just my $.02 for what its worth.

Even something as simple as 19" wheels. Let's think about this. 1994 GT had optional 17s, now over 10 years later and double the HP they are only offering 18's. At least make it an option.

The more I see this car the less I like it and I have a thousand deposit down for the first one in STL area. I wonder how much my place in line is worth?

Hi guys, this is my first post here but I've been lurking around in the dark corners of this place for a while. I know we keep hearing stats on this GT500 of 475+ etc. and nothing specific but on that Road and Track website, if you click on the video link of the GT500 mustang, an man with awful stage presence tells us that this car will have 540 HP and 540 ftlbs of torque. The link is right under the first picture and next to the first paragraph written about the car. It says "Plus: Web-exclusive video.".

I have not heard any numbers near this range and I am wondering how old this video is and how out of date those numbers are. Everything seems to be much under those prospective stats at this point with only 7 days to go.

I had not seen that video. The link I had did not include it. I had to to to the R&T main site and find it.

That is the concept car. They were originally rumoring that number based on the Ford GT engine which this engine is very similar to.

I do think this car will be able to produce that. IT will likely be choked down a little from the factory and under rated. A few basic mods should put us easily at that number. I am hearing factory X-pipe, so maybe just some restrictive mufflers and air box will choke it down. Easily replaced, those mods should bring us into the 500s at the flywheel. Add in a flash tune and this car should be a screamer with just basic reversible mods.

Went to the local dealer and asked him if they had a list for the gt 500 convertible and he said that they did not even have a list for the coupe and that they were not makin a convertible.. any ideas on how to find a dealer to get on the list. I seem to have the only ford dealership in New York that is clueless..

Oh, that's using the CHPConRate (Canadian Horse Power Conversion rate) thingy.

How come? The original Shelby GT500's didn't come with a stripe (Except first year). The stripe on the side was factory, but the top stripes were dealer add-ons.
