Well you all wanted the Shelby. So get ready for a MSRP of $48K+ before the dealers mark them up. As for me I'll be buying the other car.

Here's another one of my pet-peeves. They may be calling this a "Ford Shelby Cobra GT500" and it is based on the redesigned 2005 Mustang. Why are they compelled to remove 'Mustang' from the name. I personally believe that the fact that it is a Mustang is the most important part. If they remove the 'Mustang' from the official name, they are belittling that fact.
Also, Ford has to be paying Carrol Shelby in order for them to use his name in the marketing of this car. That 'licensing fee' is passed on to us in the form of a higher sticker price. That is in addition to the dealer markups -market adjustments- that will undoubtedly be even higher because of the name.

There are not going to be two flagship Cobras - one Shelby, one SVT - period. End of discussion.

Believe me, we got a little over 24 hours left, I'm a waitin' and a lookin' and a hopin'
Another point of history (Brad, help me out here) I believe that the 1969 and 1970 Shelby's were built by Ford with no input from Shelby or very little input from Shelby. They just used his name. So when Shelby dies, it won't matter because of the legacy of the name. That will live on.
wtf is up with all this talk about two SVT's. I would think the cobra emblem on the shelby car would be enough for a 3rd grader to figure out. Its back on the car the same way it originally was, part of Shelby's medalion. This IS the SVT product, duh. Thunder is right, it only was called a 'cobra' in the amended owners manual on the Shelby Mustangs. Cobra is a name for an AC ace conversion, not a Mustang, only after Ford put the stickers on the anemic Mustang II did it bear the name. I wanna know what they do with more main-stream SE's now, around the 30k price point
And all this magazine 'factoids', you do realize magazines are not gospel and often have errors on upcoming product.

Did anyone notice that SVT's site has been updated?
I didn't see this post anywhere on TMS.

To me, that's amazing and was surely expecting it to be at least $40k, if not more. That's awesome!

That something you learned in NY?
What next, a free trip? Each bit of news we get is getting sweeter and sweeter. I hope all you Shelby haters don't want to buy this nearly $36k beast-like, beautiful, machine.
Rob, Brad, How was it in person? I bet the pics don't do it justice just like the pics didn't do the '05 justice.

I wrote a letter to SVT today to get a list of the car shows it is going to be at. I will go see it. I'm jealous. I want to be Brad's little helper at NAIAS next year when the production car debuts.

Kevin, you have to see it in person. I was giddy like a school girl when the hood was popped.

BTW: any talk about how much this beast weighs yet?
