Go back and read it again. The only reason why the Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 is even mentions in the press release is that it is a SVT product (as is the Adrenalin).

Anyone remember diagramming sentence structure in school to determine subjects and verbs?

Regardless, if there are 2 hotted-up Mustangs in New York, I can't wait to see 'em!

But I just want to know why the Adrenalin gets IRS but the Cobra won't have it.
Because the explorer already has an IRS unit
Exactly! Ford and HTT have gone on record to say that they are not going to go back and redesign the fundamental base platform. The Mustang has a solid axle and the Cobra will retain it. The Explorer has an IRS and the Adrenalin will keep that. This will allow them to get products out faster, keep the cost down, and minimize reliability risks.
I rather see them spend money on 5.4L 32V engine with Ford GT heads then IRS anyways.

I dunno, Anaki is acting like an insider.... makes me wonder.... GT500 has always been a Stang... Could be we are getting the SVT Cobra AND the Shelby version

Ok, Assuming Anaki is leading us down the "right path", here is some food for thought.
First, The Ford GT was produced by SVT but not marketed as an SVT Product, this logic could apply to the new GT500. If we open our Shelby history books, They took the highest performance factory Stangs at the time and modded them up higher, with Fords help and backing.
If we are getting the new Cobra this week, then history maybe repeating itself with Shelby (with Ford/SVT Help) taking the highest performance version of the Stang to the next level....
So, following this logic and historical precident, the next SVT product would be the Cobra Mustang...and old Shelby has taken it and hopped it up further....with SVT's help and created the GT500
I'm going to be losing sleep the next few nights

It doesn't say that it will be a 2006, just that it will arrive in 2006, a fact that is true. 450 hp sounds more reasonable than over 500 hp since the last version was rated at 390 hp.

I'm thinking we're only gonna see one stang at NY. If we are gonna get both a Shelby mustang and an SVT stang labeled as an SVT, they wouldn't wanna give everything away in one shot.
Another thing, i can't imagine them putting out a car called the GT500 that doesn't have 500 horsepower.
V10's not reading too much into anything, he's just pointing out something that's pretty funny and that's been laughed about before. Motor Trend's first big article on the new stang last year joked about how the Stang gets a solid axle while the Expedition gets IRS.
We can guess at where this car would be in terms of acceleration with 500hp. Maybe about 4, 4.2 seconds to 60, thereabouts anyways. What i'm really curious about is how it'll handle with the IRS. Saleen seems to have done a pretty good job of working with that suspension, so did those racing teams that won the Grand Am 200 with the stang. Anyways, i just want this Shelby Mustang to really beat out the Z06 and the Viper, at least in terms of bang for your buck. Either way, we'll be bound to see some sweet battles between these cars in the magazines. Yeeha!

You hit the nail on the head.
I think the Shelby Cobra GT500 is going to be the Shelby, the Cobra, and the SVT car we've all been speculating about. Just one car. Then they'll come out with a GT350 SE later on. Let's just hope they put the IRS in the 500 and the SRA in the 350. They everyone will be happy!
I love the fact that it is going to be a Shelby GT500. That is just awesome. I always dreamed of owning a Shelby mustang (I have lusted after a 67 Shelby) and now is my chance and I plan to take full advantage of it.
I still don't get why people care if it is called SVT Cobra or Shelby or whatever. It is going to be a kick hiney car.

Shelby GT 500 - 450 horse ( really 500 ) and considered an SE vehicle
And the surprise.......
SVT Cobra - 500 horse ( really 550 ) and still Ford's top dog

i don't buy that at all.
if there are two cars, i think it'll be the reverse. Just think of the names. SVT Cobra does not sound nearly as prestigeous as Shelby Cobra GT500.
also, Motor Trend said in their last issue quite decidedly that the Shelby Cobra will replace the SVT Cobra as the "top dog" stang. I trust them on this since just about everything they've called about this car seems to be coming true.
