I have been on this site for some time browsing and now that the GT 500 has been released for public viewing ... i decided to join the forums.
I have owned in the past a 89 5.0 and a 99 saleen and have had my good times and bad times with those cars.
CNN went on to post the new GT 500 will sell for 35K ... fine, for 35K thats a bargin considering the horsepower you are getting. Hopefully the track performance and real world street performance will keep bring a smile to the lucky owners. I hope this car will be produced in healthy numbers so that people like you and me have a real shot in purchasing one.
I just finished my two year hunt for a classic and purchased my 1969 Mach 1 and I feel my mustang buying days are now settled ... shes a keeper. People ask me what i think of the new mustangs and I tell them ... I am happy that ford is building them still and with the 2005 model I am happy for the design ... although i have no interest in owning one.
I am happy and pleased with the new Shelby ... the wishes I have with it are as follows...
1. The engine - a 450 HP naturally asperated ( spelling? ) engine would have been nice. Supercharging is nice, i drove one for a few years, but I like my engines stock.
2. The tail lights - I loved the photoshop mods on the net with the 67' wide tail lights - those are sooo hot and gives the car such a beefy look .. although i can almost see why they did not have them on here.
3. GT 500 - interesting that they start with the GT 500, what about the GT 350? should there be one? If so ... would the GT 350 be the "every man's" shelby ( with the stock 5.4 motor ) leaving the GT 500 to the serious / hardcore ranks as the 2000 - R was.
4. The engine again - I did see ( and i know others here saw it too ) the redline is kinda shorted ... i would swear that a 32-V motors should give up to 8K on the back end. Is there a red line computer controlled limiter? this is the same motor as the Ford GT right? I guess well know more closer to release time.
The lessions I learned from owning the 99 Saleen was ... its all "oohs and ahhs" until you own one. Yes they have the new Saleens now and believe me, i am a huge fan of their work. If I could go back in time to 1999 and stop myself, well .. I couldn't tell myself not to buy it but I would tell myself ... buy the 1999 cobra and ship it to saleen and make it a Saleen-Cobra; better value ... better to be more OEM than more aftermarket.
for 2005 now ( or when its released for sale ), the Shebly Cobra is the far better value for a high performance mustang than all the others out there.

It seems Ford likes the look enough to bring out as a concept but has gone another way 2 out of 3 times.
Personally I love the Shelby the way it is.

Remember Ford said the production Mustang was ready before the concept cars they showed at all the shows. I have said since then that it was possible to have created the concept from the Cobra's future look. Looks pretty close to me.

Cool intro about the beast. It didn't take them long to update it seeing as how I was on it yesterday.

I've got a 514 big block I've been working on finishing for the past year or so. It was going in an 84 fox. Within 5 minutes of seeing this car, I've decided I'm selling both the car and the motor, and putting the money in the bank. I'm getting me at least $5,000 or so together to make a down payment on a Shelby. I'm getting one, darn it.

Hey all, I finally got my 05' Mustang v6 (black, red interior leather, interior upgrade, and sport exterior package) last monday, and already I am dyeing for this new model.
The exterior is beautiful, but am I on the only one who thinks that the v6 and gt' interior upgrades with red leather package are better looking then the new shelby interiors? I'm just not a huge fan of the black steering wheel I guess. What do you all think?

Lol. I said something similar. I told mine to go strip for a few months so we can buy it in cash.
