Yeah, ol' Steve'll have a hard time selling N/A S281 3Vs for the same price as the new Cobra.

Red/White, Blue/white and White/Blue are probably locks as they are all favorite Shelby colors and have been seen in the pictures from Ford the last two days. I'm hoping for Black/Silver or gold.
First off, since this hasn't been said yet, I'll say it. I want to thank Carroll Shelby and Ford for patching up their differences the've had in the past, and having him finish out his automotive legacy with the company where it started at. In the past, there was a real big and heated battle over the Cobra name. He & Ford didn't get along at all. For this relationship to get back togetheris is fantastic, so I though it would be a good idea to thank them both .
Carroll did say in an earlier interview with the Cobra concept at the 2004 Detroit show, that this would be his last dealing with any of the big automotive companies, other than his own, of course. He wanted to end where it began, which is great. Carroll is a class guy. This car will add to his already long list of automotive achievements. Hears to you Carroll, your my hero! :flag2:.

Secondly, SVT Guys, if you are reading this thread, PLEASE, PLEASE, offer the car in Guardsman Blue with the White stripes . This is my all-time favorite color on the Shelby Cobra 289 and 427's. The white with Blue stripes is my second favorite, but you have to make it in this color scheme. It would look so incredible.

Now I really can't wait to go up to the show on Monday. Have my tickets already, now the day has to get here. Looks like I'll be needing alot of batteries for my camera, as I'll be having a whole lot of pictures of the car to bring back. Thank goodness for having a 512MB card. I want this week over with already. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO!!!!!!!!!

Speaking of color..................

So I wonder if Ford is going to pull the Model T routine on this bad boy (since it is slated for limited production # of 7500)

I don't want to hear "You can get it in any color you want, as long as it's red with white stripes"

IMO - The titanium silver with white stripes would look great

Either way, this is awesome

I really do think that this car is going to be awesome. And even though it really isnt in the same class as the corvette, it will still crush it. The Z06 that just came out will be interesting, but our baby will probably loose, stock to stock. With the styling not being perfect, do you know what happened in the late 60's when the mustang shelby and boss were considered the best that a mustang could look? Maybe this is just the starting point, like the relatively conservative v6 and gt were. Just my opinion.

This car deserves this though

Has anyone found the weight for the Shelby yet? I haven't which makes me think they are embarassed by it. The GT weighs what 3500 lbs? Add a cast iron 5.4 block, 4V heads, big brakes, a supercharger, did I miss anything? It will be heavy.

I might beat a normal vette in a straight line, actually it likely will, but I wouldn't consider that crushing it. The vette would lap this thing on a Road Course in no time. Slap a supercharger on the vette and the Shelby is toast.

The new Z06 will whoop it even in a straight line - without a supercharger.

Don't get me wrong, I grew up working on Mustangs and Shelbys, but make no doubt about it, this car is a straight line boulevard cruiser. It would have to go on a serious diet to do anything else.

For the money it will be a good deal if all you want to do is go straight most of the time.

the weight is estimated at 3600 lbs. i know its not a light weight, but with close to 500 horses, tighetened suspension, and at least 18 inch tires, I think it can take the corvette.

Here is what the Ford Website has to say about the performance specs

"The cast-iron block, four-valve 5.4-liter V8 engine is force-fed a mixture of air and fuel via a supercharger at 8.5 pounds per square inch of boost. According to SVT, Ford GT-derived aluminum cylinder heads, piston rings and bearings bring a high-level of proven durability to the drivetrain, and upgraded cooling components promise longevity. To make a visual statement, "Powered by SVT" is cast into both side camshaft covers. The engine is mated to a T-56 six-speed manual transmission.

To help bring the GT500 to a stop, SVT fit 14-inch cross-drilled Brembo rotors up front and 13-inch discs in the rear. The show car shown in New York has 19-inch wheels, and SVT engineers also retuned and upgraded the shocks, spring rates and upgraded stabilizer bars to increase the Mustang's handling"
The number Iharra and Gouzowski will most likely recite when describing the Shelby Cobra GT500 is 450, as in 450 horsepower and 450 pounds-feet of torque generated from a supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 engine. The 5.4-liter engine was first put into service in the limited-edition 2000 SVT Mustang Cobra R, a car that Car and Driver magazine ran from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 in 11 seconds -- without a supercharger.
