Factory N/A 5.4L 389-HP & 383-LB FT TQ

Just saw this and thought that I'd share since no one else has mentioned it so far.
Take a look at the engine specs. Look a little familiar? Add a 2.3L Whipple blower to that ! (I think th Shelby 450hp/450tq numbers might be under rated!)
http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.174
Ford (albeit in Australia) does produce a 4-speed automatic transmission that could handle the power of a N/A 5.4L (389-hp & 383-lb-ft) maybe they could do something for the automatic fanatics for the Shelby.

Which is exactly what the Dig-It stated in the original post. I'm not sure why the question was even asked...

The thing to remember is that the 5.4L N/A engine you're talking about has 10.5:1 compression, which accounts for its high output. The supercharged version found in the Ford GT has 8.4:1 compression. Without the supercharger, it would make nowhere near the 380 horse output in the naturally-aspirated Aussie engine. That is to say, you can't just add the horsepower of the N/A version to the expected gains of the supercharger. You have to account for the lower compression.

Put a set of 3-valve heads on that bad boy and I can see a Mach-01 motor for sure. You would give up a bit of hp most likely (noy much), but you would gain some torque too. 370hp and 390ft-lb tq sounds about right to me.

:nono: As for the automatic, just put one in the car that will handle 600hp and nobody gets hurt . Give me a new 6 speed C-6.

The C6 coupe starts out at $44,510 and tops out at $56,180 fully loaded, not sure where you got your numbers at.

I just checked the link that was provided and the starting price is $70,200 (Aus). You did realize he was talking about the price of the Australian Ford and not a Corvette, right?

I'm guessing he's looking for an updated FORD "C6 Transmission" with 6 speeds, not a C-6 Corvette.
The old reliable Ford C6 (3-Speed) is what came behind all the Big Blocks of the late 60's & 70's as well as most F-Series pick-ups and other large Fords until built-in "Overdrive" became a neccessity for all automatic transmissions.

What's wrong with the T56 6-speed that sees time in the Mustang Cobra, Corvette and Viper?

I think the point here is Ford does not currently have a high-performance 5 or 6 Speed Automatic transmission that can handle "up to 600HP" as stated in his post !!
The post he was replying to stated "Ford (albeit in Australia) does produce a 4-speed automatic transmission that could handle the power of a N/A 5.4L (389-hp & 383-lb-ft) maybe they could do something for the automatic fanatics for the Shelby."

Okay if we are talking automatics, what about the 6-sp auto they are putting in the Adrenalin? It obviously can handle 390 ft-lbs of torque, I wonder what the max torque it can handle, anyone know?
