Yup true statement. Only the courts will decide if Chevy can call it a Camaro again. They would probably need to prove that every bit of design and engineering ocurred AFTER the plant was demolished AND there was no intent to break out of the contract early. Chevy told Canada there was NO market left for the Camaro and Firebird so they will have to do a lot of wrangling to all of a sudden come up with one. Mustang sales most likely will not be justification to reveive the brand name. There will have to be a wholesale market switch to RWD V-8 powered coupes and that is not going to happen anytime soon.
perhaps, but I'm pretty sure if GM would agree to build it in Canadia, Canadia would "forget" about any contract. Wouldn't want to pass up new jobs.

The Shelby Cobra's dead, the GR-1 will be the replacement for the GT, Ford only wanted it to have a limited production run, i believe of 1500 and 3 years, so i believe next year will be the last for the GT, then the GR-1, if ready will replace it.

Someone, in the rumor mill, posted what seems like it could be the mustang heirarchy (V6 GT, SE with supercharged GT engine, SE w/ NA cobra engine, cobra (supercharged) perhaps only 1 SE, but I like the possibility of 2

I'm sure all have seen this already, but if you want a Eleanor Shelby Mustang right now, check out the web site:

Unique Performance

Straight out of the movie, and starting for just under $100K!!

From what I've heard (on Rides) these are offical Shelby's, registered as current model year cars, with new Ford authorized build plates, and everything. Unbelieveable cars.....

No Shelby in 06, and no Shelby Cobra roadster. Its dead. Chris Theodore was the major push behind the Cobra roadster, and he just "retired". Phil Martens, and most of the exterior design staff thought the car was butt-ugly.

The focus of SVT now is doing the Cobra Mustang for 2007. Remember, in the Ford Mustang 40 years of fun book, they began the S197 project in 1999, froze the design in 2002 and it took 2.5 years to get it on the road. There's no way a newmodel/version can arrive in 2006. They're still concentrating on launching the 05 with no quality glitches.
This is what I believe right now.

there is a shelby in 06 but it is not going to be a mustang, there will be a shlby cobra (a retro one) to replace the Forg GT. It will use the same chasis and the test engine is a v10
The Ford GT will be produced for three years with 1500 units being built each year. The Cobra Concept uses an entirely different chassis that what is used in the Ford GT.

Coming out of the Shelby/Ford alliance in 2006 is a Shelby version of one of the Ford SUVs-can't remember which, but I'll find the article.

FYI-with Hau ThaiTang in charge of Advanced Product Creation and SVT, you'll see some hot cars coming from Ford-and since SVT really doesn't have to answer to too many people at Ford main, it's entirely possible that the Shelby Cobra could come back at the end of the production run for the Ford GT.
