2005 Saleen
I agree with Stadifer the back is remnant of a corvette's rear bumber. The folks at Saleen did not stay true to the mustang heritage, this saleen looks more like an S-7 with its exotic, futuristic styling. The only part I like is the rear bumber minus the extra wing on top. Also, what is up with that front grill? Ewww. I personally think Steeda is a better looking car that stays true to the retro mustang. Saleen's looks more like it is a cross over between an S-7 and a time machine from back to the future.
PS Brad's site is one of the best.

I just noticed. I had originally thought the tail lights were two sections rather than three, but it looks like there is a cover on the inside portion of the stock tail lights.

As Tim McGraw sings. I like it. I love it. I want some more of it.

and frankly i cant see why some of you dont like this car i personally think if it mkes that much diff. about the taillight get out a sharpy cuz this cars golden
Just doesn't do it for me...I think that the overall shape of the car doesn't flow very well. Then again it looks better than what we've seen from the aftermarket yet. I also think the fact that we don't see more GT-R cues from the aftermarketer is a good guess that we're going to see GT-R inspired Boss or Mach 1 from Ford.
wow...you all are a bunch of complainers...
if you were to buy the car... all you have to do is not order the specific body pieces which you dont like... make your own combination... saleen doesnt FORCE you to bodykit the entire car... and neither does ROUSH.. of which i dont think id put jack's front fascia on my stang even if you put a gun to my head...
personally the saleen looks great.. i think they did a great job of taking retro futuristic... it actually looks very early 90's german (like BMW)...short front overhang helps...
its very clean looking... the panels look like they line up and could be factory..
the side view doesnt look so much like a brick on wheels anymore.. as the 05 looks stock...

Outside=yuck!
Under Hood=
underhood quote.
"Under the hood of every S281 is a high-performance 4.6-liter V8 engine. In the 3-Valve model this engine produces 325 horsepower. In, the supercharged S281 SC the horsepower leaps to 400. And for the S281 E, which will be introduced next spring, the engine produces a mind-boggling 500 horsepower. Now you know why the E in the name stands for Extreme"

"Saleen has its own “design language†and you’ll notice a family resemblance between the S281 and the Saleen mid-engine exotic S7 supercar in the shaping of the lower front grille opening, the rear spoiler and the rear diffuser. These features are designed for optimal aerodynamics and top-speed performance, objectives the S281 achieves because of lessons previously learned from extensive wind tunnel testing and racing of the S7."

I didnt read through all of the responses so sorry if this has been said already. Has anyone noticed that they have removed the running pony in the front?!
That is really my only gripe.
This car is
I think the body lines of this car makes for the most aggressive Saleen yet. You see, you people say the car is "sedan like" and unagressive. Well now here you are. Man you people are picky.
For the record, I do like the new design Saleen has release but If I had my choice, it would be the MRT.

I agree with Grantsdale, where on here did anyone post anything about the 05 being "sedan like" and "unagressive"?
[/b][/quote]I have read that comment by many people. It probably was on stangnet though. I can't remember.
As far as the pony is concerned, Saleen has never taken it off, that is why I was surprised. It looks good without it, I just though it was weird.
Ehhh... Out of the big three (Saleen, Roush, Steeda), I'm partial to the Steeda the most (Although I dont think its all it could be). For Saleen or Roush to get it right I think that they are gonna have to work from the cowl forward and not just slap on a nose and call it a day.
The 05 mustang reminds me of 82 to 92 f-bodies and 84 to 93 or whatever vettes. There was simply no way to tack on some plastic and make the cars look better than what the factory did.
The new mustang seems to suffer ( if you want to call it that) same fate. Its a high water mark in factory styling.
I like the idea on a panel filler between the lights.
Man I would love to see a Mach 1 with the GTR nose, a honey comb filler panel and shaker hood scop (shaker hood is of dubius value as any scoop is but its so darn cool)

What color is that?? Looks too light to be Mineral Grey....too dark to be Satin Silver. Could this be the Tungsten we are getting for MY06?? Or maybe it just my eyes....just finished doing laps at the pool...maybe the clorine is affecting my vision.
