V6 Pony Package
I have a 2006 Pony Package 4.0 V6. I am wanting to put a dual exhaust system on it but the guy I talked to at the muffler shop here said it would sound funny since the engine is smaller than a V8. I am curious if anybody has some advice for swapping a single to a dual, and if so, what kind of muffler would sound good? Also, I would consider keeping it a single exhaust if I could find something that could make it sound good as well. I want good SOUND mainly. Any suggestions?!?!?

Actually, there are some that feel that dual exhaust on a V6 will hurt the performance. I have a Mac single on my 06 and it definitely woke it up quite a bit. If you go to mustangcollective.com, there is a library of exhaust sounds under 4.0 tech thread. Just remenber, it will never sound like a v8, there is no "replacement for displacement'...

Hmmm....
What did you do about the back bumper. It has only one cut-out for the single install exhaust. How did you modify it to fit two?

OKAY! I see.........it looks great by the way. My car is the same color as yours actually, LOL. What kind of tips are on yours? Would you recommend not putting any fancy tips on and leaving it the way it is, just plain pipe?

It's not really the displacement that gives it a V8 sound, as small displacement V8's still sound like a V8. It's the fact that a V6 is an "odd fire" motor (just like a V10) that gives it the tinnier sounding exhaust note. V8's and V12's are mostly "even fire" motors (there are exceptions) and it is the even fire that gives off the distinctive, harmoneous exhaust note.

Sounds good =)
.......thanks for posting videos and sounds. That really helps a lot. The idiot at the store made it sound like if I put new mufflers on my car, it would sound like a fart box

It's hard to get a good sound out of a dual v6. I just recently dualed mine and had to have a few adjustments done but I'm happy with the result I have now. I went with the 2.5" h-pipe (custom) and resonators to borla stingers. It really does sound awesome.
If you're concerned about going dual you can always upgrade to 3" y-pipe for a deeper sound. I had this before my dual and it was a good sound. I had a magnaflow muffler.
I'll try to get an exhaust clip up tomorrow.

get a back to back Y pipe system with one or 2 mufflers, you will get the looks, an improvement in sound as well as a minimal improvement in performance, well worth the money(expect about 4-600 bucks total)
heres a couple of mine, totally custom setup with dual Magnaflow Y pipes and ywin magnaflow mufflers
