tranny help plz anyone
OK my Stang is a 2005 v6 auto and im at about 110,000miles is it OK to change the tyranny fluid or just leave it alone and also is there any parts I can add to give my car some power don't know much about trannys.
i`m not advising anything. but if it was me, i would at the very least drop the pan, replace the filter and the 5 out of 13 qts of fluid for starters. then every 15k or so i would drain the 5 qts and replace it till the fluid starts looking red again. your owners manual says its good for 100k, but thats cause they bank on it lasting that long and want to sell you a new car or a new trans. that fluid needs to be changed just like your oil. 35k is a good number for changes.
your at a crossroad. take a chance changing the fluid, or ride it till it dies. might as well flip a coin

A power flush is recommended every 30k on my Chrysler auto. If you stay up with it they work fine for well past 100k. But those that waited way long have issues if they power flush later.I had an Eagle with 100k that would hardly drain through the cooler line with the engine running. They recommended NOT doing a power flush since I waited so long and so many miles.
So 6 mos later I dropped the pan and changed the filter and fluid again and tightened the bands because it was slipping in D. You should have seen all the metal on the magnet!
The trans failed within 10k after that.
Flip a coin.

i will say mine has had a hard 100k on it and its held up ( knock on wood) and is still working good. most of its life has had the race tune shift on it too. i think if i had never changed it, i would be scared to do a flush, and would just do the 5 qt change a few times or so. ( thats what drains out the fill/drain hole) should be safe with that. ive been advised that the filter should be replaced around 100k, but is good for 3 flushes( up to the 100k). somewhere in the manual it says something about 35k changes for towing ect. i would consider tons of wot runs, spirited driving all the time, racing at the track to fall into that condition, not that anyone drives like that. the flush is not cheap, but felt good to replace all 13 qts.
i also picked up a trans cooler from am to tap in that i need to install. cant decide on a mounting spot.
