Ok.. Here's an update on my 4.10s and T-Lok...

I've discovered a few things!

1) I must have gotten some bad gas... I had to fill up while I was out of town and didn't fill up at my usual station. I run a 93 Octane tune... well this morning I did test run and was pinging like crazy... So I'm sure I was pinging yesterday but with the windows down I didn't hear it... So OUCH! That definitely didn't help!

2) It was really hot yesterday!

3) I don't think I was launching at a high enough RPM... With the 4.10s I need to press on the brake harder!!! LOL! Silly me! Looking at the logs I launched at about 1600 RPM. I need to be more aware of this! I really need to be launching at 2000 to 2200 RPM (or so I think? any input on this?)

Ok... so I reflashed the car with an 89 Octane tune for the lousy gas. The tempure outside was more like 25 or more degrees cooler! Was like 65 instead of over 90! I then made a another test run... This time I launched at 1800 RRM... (like I said I need to work on this! LOL!) The results:

Best 0-60 run before the 4.10s was 7.0
Best run yesterday with the 4.10s was 7.1
This mornings run with 4.10s, cooler air, 89 tune: 6.6!

I'm going to have see how lauching at higher RPM does...

Now all of this is of course based on my Speedometer being accurate..LOL!

Guess I need to either A) Find a track and deal with the evil eye from the wife... or B) Pick up one of the G-Techs...

And today with 3/4 throttle I actually heard a pretty good CHIRP on 1-2 shift... I really think the lousy gas and heat were killing me yesterday...

$27 on ebay for a gtech, it will be more accurate thatn you think. I would launch at higher rpm if i were u as well. And 6.6 is pretty good for the auto, thats .3 faster than magazine testing. Im sure with a good 91/93 tune and launching at a higher RPM you can hit it in 6.4. and 6.4 should equate to a 14.6 or 14.7 quarter mile run. I think you deal with the evil eye and go to the track to find out.

Yeah.. I think you are right about the evil eye... LOL!

Funny story... I've been bugging my wife about going the the drag strip in her home town. Now her Dad (who passed away before we met) was big into Muscle cars... But she been using the argument "Well, my Dad never raced his!" everytime I mention the track... So we're visting with her Mom this weekend.. I mentioned about going to the track again... Wife immediately say the usual about her Dad never going.. Her Mom's give's my wife a look and says, "Your Dad used to go to the track all the time" Turns out here Dad did go to the track when my wife was to young to remember... So I'm doing the happy dance telling her "see your father DID go to the track!" LOL!

I'ld love to get down to a 6.4. The big tires look good but they are just BFGoodrich All-Season radials (Radial T/A).... If I ever got really serious about the numbers I would have to switch to a higher performance tire....

Hmmmm... in the meantime I guess I'll be checking E-Bay! LOL!

Couple of things...

1) I spend another penny on my car any time soon... and I'll be looking for a new place to live! LOL!

2) I really LOVE the way my big tires look... Right now I'm more in the "show" mode... The big tires just give it such an agressive stance... They tend to get lots of compliments at the car shows... The pics I posted don't even come close to what it looks like in person! LOL!

3) I could get a high performance 28.5 inch tire... but I'll have to upgrade the rims... See Item #1... LOL! I like the looks of the stock rims... A new setup would probably be close to $1500... at leats... again... see #1... LOL!

I would try to launch at the highest rpm traction will allow. With those monster trires, I would work my up, who knows, maybe 4000 rpm. You'll beat on your driveline more, but you should be faster.

I've got an automatic... I've been learning all about torque converters... The guess is that my stock tc stall is around 2200 to 2500 RPM....

Sorry, I thought it was a stick. Even with break torquing, you're stuck with the stall speed. I had a Maxima with a 2500 rpm stall (Stock). It made a huge difference coming off the line. I'm not sure if the Mustang electronics will fight you on brake torquing. With the my Maxima, traction wasn't a problem, just low end torque.

I have to remember to push on the brake harder now that I've got the 4.10s in! LOL! I shouldn't have a problem launching at 2000 or a little above... Lidio's tune pulls all the torque limiters out....
