1) It was hot again today...
2) Trac-Lock definitely is way cool!!! I certinaly launched a lot better with less spin!
3) My 0-60 time is the same if not a little bit worse... reason... I now have to go to 3rd due to the 4.10s. dang...
4) In my simulated 1/4 mile I had to hit 4th... my time was pretty sad..
Now on the positive side... The Trac-Lock is a tremendous help! The 4.10s... well, not what I was hoping for... BUT... Around town here... zooming from light to light... or moving in and out of traffic... they KICK SOME MAJOR BUTT!!!!!!!!! LOL!
oh... and i'm chirping 1-2 and 2-3... LOL
I'm tempted to but my smaller stock tires back on... but dang the big ones look sooo good and I'm afraid the 4.10s would be way too much... Right now with my big tires I was on the E-way doing 80 and the RPMs were around 2700 which was not bad at all....
I may try to get some numbers tomorrow morning when it's not so DANG HOT! LOL!

ya iheard 3.73s are better. im suprised u have to go to 3rd for 60mph though, but come to think of it, thats bout right, i can only hit like 67 in 2nd gear with stock gearing.
gotta go to the track, do the real deal Im sure wider tires would be a better benefit for manual trans cars that have the capability of launching. just seems like u should be quicker to 60 and the quarter mile, but maybe those huge tires are slowin ya down in the quarter.

Maan, so 4.10s, like or dislike? Would you have gone with a 3.73 instead? Im soooo close to ordering a set and it sounds like you arent happy with them.. maybe even have slowed you down.

Hey a question i never asked, where did you get 265 tires put on? wouldnt most tire places tell you no?
anyway, ya the autos have that problem, the gt's are worse because the stock auito gt has to make a shift to 4th right at the end of the quarter.

Even 3.73s should force an extra shift for 0-60 and the quarter. I did some research and think you'll break even on 0-60 and quarter mile. 3.73s should clean up on a eight of a mile in third gear. Top speed (unlimited) should be the same around 138 with 3.31 in fourth or 3.73 in fifth. The 3.73s will come off the line harder, pass easier on the highway, especially pulling in 5th. Maybe lose 1 mpg. I'll probably get just a T-Lok and try to make up for it with a higher rpm launch.
Fazm (Dave) how do you like your K & N? I've been researching and heard some negative comments.

I just did the math, and with your 28.5" tall tire with the 4.10's, your effective gear ratio is 3.88.
So your car is acting as if it had 3.88 on a 27" tall tire.
I would say the feeling is not too much different than what we would feel on our stock tire with 3.73's.

Sorry Zodiac, I was comparing 3.73s to stock 3.31s. 4.10s will have the same problems and benefits as the 3.73s. I personally think 4.10s are overkill except for guys like Scrming with oversized tires. The torque benefit is offset by frequent shifting. The 4.10s should come off the line harder than 3.73s if that's what you're asking. Gearing won't help your trap speed much. Chevy High Performance did a great article comparing 3.00 to 4.56 gears. The trap speed never varied(+/-1). The difference between 3.5 and 4.11s was only .2 seconds on the quarter. Both of those times are in fourth gear, so an extra shift for the Stang will eat that up. That's why I'm saying its a wash with the extra shift.

1trickpony i get good gas mileage and no drop in power, plus i can change it less often, its cheaper in the long run, and get better gas mileage, so i love it

Good to hear. I check some other forums and there's a lot of negative press out there. Something about the oil in the K & N filter getting on the MAS. Warranty voiding and other harsh talk. I'm starting to worry about oiled filters. Might stick with a stock filter. Did you notice a power difference with your K & N?
