MMR's high flow inlet tube plus intake is supposed to produce 18hp... pretty close to the Steeda. There are all of these intakes coming out soon.... JLT, C&L, K&N... I'm going to try and hold off a wee bit longer after a few more products are out and see which produces the best gains. Just in time for summer, methinks.
K&N Part 63-2565 for the GT is somewhere around $260. The V6 version will probably be similarly priced.

Steeda's higher horsies might be because of the required retune.

The MMR Inlet tube is supposed to produce "up to an additional 7RWHP!!" for 170 bucks, or 350 total if you buy it with the CAI as well. And unless Im mistaken, isnt it the same size as the stock tubing? Else, CAI and tubing wouldnt bolt up like they do, correct? So is there anything stopping you from using it with, say, a Steeda CAI?

WELL. Haha, thats hard to say, but you're probably right. You should really have a tune with the MMR, as well as ANY intake, but I still wonder if you would see the same kind of results... those are pretty big numbers in the world of CAIs.

As for the retune, it seems like the universal answer for any new mod has been to simply disconnect the battery. Maybe you could buy the Steeda CAI, disconnect / reconnect the battery and save the money on the retune!

It's tough to say for certain without seeing them, but it would make sense that they're the same size. With all of these CAIs coming out now, I'm wondering what the differences are among all of them, especially since the price range is getting pretty wide.

Assuming it corrected itself 80% efficent, and you DID gain MMRs MAX of 18rwph, you are now only getting 14rwhp. See what Im getting at? At $350 you are paying at best results $19.44 / 1rwhp. If you were to gain 80% efficency you are now paying 25$ / 1rwhp. Its all about bang for the buck.

Disconnecting the battery is no where near the same as retuning the car using a flash device or anything... While the computer may auto correct 20%, even 80%, its still not 100% efficent.

Agreed on all points. In reality, I was half-joking (which means that I was half-serious!) Because I'll be putting the Magnaflow on, I probably should do something up-front, so the CAI is a good option. Then the tune could include both mods, which would be nice. But it's starting to add up (and starting to get more difficult to hide from the wife!!)

On the bright side, most "regular" people don't realize that kind of stuff, even if it's right under their noses. For me, the number of UPS boxes at the front door is very suspicious!
