Procharger being installed...
Well... so I did it. Finally broke down and ordered the 7PSI Procharger kit.
First, the bad news...
Since this is actually one of the first kits to be sold/installed in the US (despite what the buzz has been), a lot of the kinks haven't been ironed out. Some of the bolts sent with the kit were incorrect, so Procharger had to overnight replacements.
But the big problem was the tuner sent.... The first tuner they sent had some software update issues, so it couldn't even communicate with the car's computer. This time my guys ordered directly from Diablosport, and spent the better part of friday with my car on the dyno creating a custom tune from scratch. The 7PSI kit could supposedly work using the stock 19lb injectors, but as of the first few dyno runs, the car still looked like it was running pretty darn lean.
This may mean that Procharger needs to add injectors to its 7PSI kit, even though it's not currently sold with them. (They're included with the 9PSI kit). On monday the shop will be back on the phone with Diablo and Procharger trying to iron out the last few problems.
The good news:
The kit installed in record time. Except for the bolt problem (which turned out to be intentional; Procharger decided to beef up some of the connections), the install was flawless.
And more importantly:
On the first run, even with the mix producing less power than it should be once the tune is completed, a run produced 205.9 RWHP at just under 3950 RPM.
Once the tune is complete, and once the car is pushed to its limit, given the power curves produced by centrifugal superchargers the car should be putting down around 280 horses to the wheels by redline, if not a little more.
Note, this is an automatic. Running on a very conservative 7 PSI.
If this is indeed the case, I should be tremendously pleased.
So hopefully, HOPEFULLY, by monday afternoon or tuesday morning the tune should be complete and I should have some final dyno numbers to post.
So I'm a little irritated about the tuning issue, but I guess that's what you get for installing a brand new kit. The guys at Ryan's Performance Machines have been awesome about it, doing the custom dyno tune for free and offering to install the injectors for free (should they be needed). So I'll thank them now for being knowledgable as heck, and I'll hopefully be thanking them next week for making my little v6 a heck of a lot more fun.

Wow, thank you for this and keep us posted. I have an auto too, so I am keen to see how this sorts out for you. Sorry to hear about the tuner/bolt issues.
Do you plan on going to 9 PSI later?

Nice Job!!! This is going to be great having someone who is a regular human being like the rest of us, have their car blown.. LOL!! This way we will get the real story no matter what!..
Keep us posted, and nice to meet you.. Also, I am glad you have alot of patience.. Sounds like the normal mishaps took place, when your getting something you really want... Post lots of pics of the engine bay and car.. Thanks man!

Thanks for the report and welcome!
Like MSP mentioned... it's nice to have a real paying customer post info about the kit.... Looking forward to seeing some dyno sheets.... any chance you'll be taking the car to the track???

Rygen- No plans for the 9 PSI kit yet... I'm still a little concerned about the 9.7:1 ratio in the engine, and want to see how the internals hold up as more of us put some kind of forced induction on our cars. 7 PSI intercooled is conservative, and shouldn't put much strain on the engine unless I floor it. Talking to the guys at RPM, they also feel the 9 PSI kit is a little too ambitious at the moment without some internal work. If anything, I may get an 8 PSI pulley from Procharger and top out there for the time being.
Depends how much trouble I get myself into with what I'm getting.
MSP- I'll definitely put up pictures, if I can steal a camera. The kit really looks like an OEM bolt on, fits in there like a glove.
scrming- definitely have the track in my future. I'll probably be doing the detroit TT/3.73 combo on my rear end... got some guys at a Monro around here that will install the whole bit for around $100. It helps to know people.
Hopefully updates to come in 48 hours. God I hope.

Put it this way, leave it at 7PSI for now.. You will be the only consumer with one for awhile, and you will be doing better than most by far.... Only increase the boost when you have been backed into a corner.. Dont unleash the beast, unless you feel threatend.. Right now, you not being threatend.. LOL!! Maybe when track season begins, and someone is challeging you, then this is when you decide to increase the boost.. Knowing you have 2 more pounds available to you, should make you feel good.. But its not needed for now... Dont let the GT's get under your skin either, but your not competing with them.. Your competing against us.. Lets keep this in-house for about a 1 yr.. Then once more of us come on board, and we decide its time to take the fight to the enemy, we will all do it together.. For now, we will keep this a sibling rivalry.. Our untimate goal is to reek havok and destruction on parts of the V8 community.. Up to about 400RWHP... This will encompass our brothers of the 4.6 persuasion.. But they are apart of our family, and we must protect them from the Trans-ams and corvettes.. LOL!!! We can make alot of noise with 400RWHP... There are alotof V8 which would have to submit based on there setup.. This means they are fair game for us.. But not now.. We must be patient.. You must allow your brothers to form legions of soldiers ready for battle.. We will wait silently in the dark until the time is right..
So 7psi for now.. You will know when its time to increase the boost!

Yeah, well, it seems interminable as they still try to resolve issues with the tune. Apparently it's still running a bit lean at WOT, and they don't want to let me have it until it's perfect. Since this shop is doing the tune themselves, it's their reputation.
Understandable, but I miss my car!
However...
It's now producing around 245 RWHP at 4000 RPM. No word on the redline horsepower yet, but... holy heck.

Wow, that is great at 4000 RPM. Can't wait to see what the end result is.

Belial congrats has to be exciting couple bumps but it still all good. I agree with 6-7 PSI for now that’s how I would run it for now caution is a good thing.
245 RWHP@4000 WOW I'd very happy if I was you because Nov 06 magazine Mustnag 5.0 article "blowing the budget" running the Pro Charger Stage 2 P-1SC @9psi at 4000RPM made 227HP per dyno.
Thanks for the update remember one thing IMO you can never update to much even for the littlest thing's
I am following your progress.
X Charger WHO
Good luck
Happy Dynoing

I'll definitely be posting dyno sheets as soon as I get 'em.
So they're still working on it. Problem now has to do with some kind of workaround on the ford software, something about the car going into failsafe/limp home mode if a certain power threshold is exceeded. This was supposed to be fixed in the tune that came from Procharger, but since their v6 tune was worthless, it's all being done from scratch.
I'm pissed, and so is the shop that's doing the work. They've had it running on the dyno for two days, and will likely need at least another day to finish up. But we all agree that Procharger should NOT have shipped out this kit yet, it simply wasn't ready for market. The blower and hardware are all fine, so if anybody out there is thinking of getting the tuner kit, go for it. But do NOT get the other two kits just yet, the tuner won't do your car any good.
However, again, the plus side.
The best run they've gotten so far has the car putting down 287 RWHP at ~5,300 RPM.
Assuming 18% drivetrain loss (automatic), it could be said that this is a 350 horsepower car. But that's purely an guesstimate.
Either way, the guys believe they can get it between 290 and 310 to the tires at redline by the time their WOT tuning is complete.
This does make me pretty happy. Even though I'm likely car-less until thursday.

@Belial,
First off thank you for taking the time to do this, and provide us detailed information on your install. At the end of the day, when all these annoying issues are resolved, you are gonna have a 287+ RWHP stang, which is awesome.
If you get 310 to the wheels....wow....kick hiney!!!!! Talk about a V6 that is going to shatter the board!
But, I can understand your frustration, you are without your stang. That is rough, just the thought of being without mine for 3 days following the holidays tears me up.
Quick question, did you get a chance to actually take it for a test drive? How does it feel?

Dang! Looks like those 125HP jets will be going in sooner than I thought! LOL!!! I'm guessing that the N20 still has the TQ advantage... hehehehe...
Thanks for the update! Hopefully they get everything straightened out!
