I dropped my '05 off at my dealer's service department to get my door handles replaces the other day (they would stick after you pulled them out). So I decided to stroll on over to the new car lot and see if they had any '06 models. They had a blue GT one V6 convertible with the pony package, so I went to check out the new grille and emblems and decide if I was going to try to retrofit any of them and just kinda see how they looked in person.

So of course the salesman comes out and starts talking about the car. It was funny, I actually felt like I knew more than he did from all the time I spend on the forums. But he did mention one thing that caught my attention. He said the fogs on the pony package were high intensity lighting. I'd never heard that before. Is this true? Or am I just ignorant? Are the GT fogs the same way?

On a side note, I did notice that the new grille, even the smaller one underneath, definitely seems to allow a lot more airlfow to the radiator. Could Ford have done this just for looks, because it definitely would not be easy to keep the bugs out-- or did they realize that the engine was not getting enough airflow before? Bad news for '05 V6'ers? Improved performance/cooling?

Just some food for thought

I haven't noticed that the fog lights on my pony package are "high intensity". Maybe he's just trying to say that they have a brightness level similar to the GT full size lights but from smaller bulb? They are angled more towards the ground and separate from the regular hi-beams. I just got mine and have driven around at night with them on and haven't gotten flashed yet..I figured if they were a big problem I would have gotten flashed at least by now..just my two cents

Hey...100th post :banana2:

I doubt it since you can continue getting it w/o the pony package.
I also noticed the GT grille has a smaller opening that's even smaller than our stock V6 grilles.
Who knows what the engineers are doing

I read somewhere that the honey comb was solid in places to help the aero dynamics of the car and that putting aftermarket grills or opening up those blocked areas would hinder aero, dunno how true it is.

On subject, the fogs in the pony package are not H.I.D. The sales person was talking out his hiney, as they often do. He may have been misinformed or blatently lying.
