New throttle body for the 4.0

Looking at the stock on the right, I see a vacuum(sp?) take off. I don't see one on the new TB. Would we have to add a takeoff to our inlet pipes?

We have discussed in other parts of the V6 forums how the MMR throttle body spacer essentially accomplishes nothing in the way of horsepower & is basically a useless mod. I believe the MMR spacer pretty much matches the stock intake 61mm (approx?) bore. When I saw that this new 70mm was out, this clearly seems to be the way to go for those of us who are interested in freeing up intake airflow as a way to increase horsepower.

Given the fact that the MMR spacer fits in between the manifold and the throttle body, its a possibility we MAY see some increased gains in HP due to Bernoulli's principle over and above the 70 mm throttle body spacer alone. Since the bolt centers for the new 70mm throttle body have to match OEM, its possible the MMR spacer should still fit.

So assuming the air --

Flows smoothly
Without any Swirls (whole purpose of many CAI's out there is to delivery huge gobs of swirl free air)
Flows Everywhere through the intake
Remains the same density

We SHOULD see at least a SLIGHT increase in velocity of the intake air if it were 'funneled' down to 61 mm from 70mm in the intake.

This is a brainstorm I had when seeing this post. It'd be interesting to try this out @ some time down the road if I get this mod.

As far as I know, the 4.0L has a 65mm TB. This is plenty for this power level so I'm curious how the new TB makes more power. Bigger is better if its restricting power, but a 65mm should be fine.

Maybe I'll be the first to drop one in a SC stang...

I can't wait for my kit to come in.... the suspense is killing me!

No problem, the press kit at media.ford.com list it at 65mm. Either way, 64 or 65, that's plenty of air for at least 250+ HP. The Kenne Bell website has some numbers and comments on this.
