Wow 14 views and no one has any info. Any V6 owners out there that have this.

 

I love it! I have that exact one on my '07 V6 ... Loud but not obnoxious rumble, smooth & mellow but throaty growl, no raspiness, little if any drone. Sounds like a mix of "Euro sports car"+"muscle car" to me. Has a long-lasting stainless steel construction will probably outlast your car.

I got that very axle-back exhaust for my 2006-just haven't installed it yet. Hopefully this weekend I can make it happen! (I found the Cookiemonster's comments on the various exhausts interesting and it did influence my decision to go with the Magnaflow.)

 

I have the Magnaflow catback, I like the way it sounds but most of all I like that you dont see the mufflers like on the stock exhaust. I think the sound good for a 6cyl, I also put a set of JBA headers and CAI w/ sct tune, love the combo.

 

Sounds pretty good man! Are you gonna get duals or stick with the single pipe? Think about the GT mufflers also, with an h-pipe in there too, they sound pretty good and deeper than the Magnaflow IMO. That's what I had on my V6 and I loved it. For the money, you can't beat it.

 

Going to keep it single for now. Maybe do a GT bumper and dual in the future.

I might be getting this tomorrow. First place I called today said $125 installed. I find this weird because everywhere I looked online said $384 just for the muffler. I even gave them the Magnaflow Part# and they said they could get it out of there wharehouse for $125. I'll go tomorrow to make sure this is correct.

 

$125.00 for the Magnaflow #15889 for the V6 Mustang cannot be right. $384.00 is the MSRP. Most online dealers are selling the Magnaflow axleback exhaust for about $284. I ordered mine from PerformanceCenter.com for $255-the lowest price that I could find.

 

Yes sir you are correct. I went today and they tried to put on a different Magnaflow telling me it was the same. The numbers didn't even match though. I ended up leaving and went and had an Xtreme Flow Muffler put on. Sounds pretty good $180

 

I had this muffler on my past V6, for me there was no better choice. No raspy ness at high RPM's little interior drone (only around 1400RPM and normal driving RPM is 2K, so you rarely hear it) was melo enough for a daily driver with out being too boring. I did a few write up on it a while back but they have all been lost since the server change. Still you can't go wrong with this setup and it sounds better as it ages.

 

Well, I got the Magnaflow axleback installed yesterday. It took a little longer than one hour, but the time was not a concern of mine. While the OEM muffler makes use of 3 hangers-(the 3rd attached to the inlet pipe), the magnaflow hangs on only 2, which I'm sure they felt was adequate. The polished tip fit perfectly within the molded fender cutout. I'm a little concerned that the clamp is not tight enough, I guess time will tell.
I haven't taken the car out yet-the roads are covered with salt now, but at idle in the garage, the car sounds good and not much louder than stock which is fine with me. So far, so good.

 

^^^ That was what I did ... I used a flexible metal strap (the gray thing in my pic above) that I bought as a roll from my local auto parts store to substitute for the missing 3rd hanger ... I bolted it to the rubber attachment on the body. As for the clamp supplied with the Magnaflow - mine kept on slipping off... so I bought a U-Bolt/Clamp (which was about $7), also from my auto parts store:


and used it to bolt the muffler end to the pipe along with some locktite! So far it's been perfect!!!!

I have the Magnaflow muffler and I really like the way it sounds. Cookiemonster, I like you idea for the missing third hanger. I will have to give it a try. Because of the missing third hanger if I am on some rough road my exhaust hits the axle.

 

More then likely the exhaust is hitting the frame rails, you would have to bottomout the exhaust to hit axles, Mine was hitting during hard jolts, I thought the same thing.... it was hitting frame rail above the axle. tweaked it a little fine now....now I have the dual catback magnaflows so I had to tweak both sides.
