My wife suggested we take a little trip to the track tonight. A beautiful, cool, clear evening... and, perhaps the last nice weekend this track season at Portland International Raceway. I took out the jack and spare tire and lowered the rear Pirelli's to 27.5 psi.

My first run, I ran up against my old bud in the legend green 05 Mustang GT. He has an AFE intake, Predator tune and Borla exhaust. He did his best ever at 13.797 @ 102.86MPH! I, however, didn't fare so well. The 2000 rpm launch was brutal and she got a little sideways... I had to shut her down for fear of going over the center line or into the wall. It was my worst run ever! 15.445 @ 97.58 MPH. Crap!

The next run I was spanked by a brand new (no plates yet!) GTO... he hit 13.126 @ 108.44. I spun through 1st and maybe 2nd too. Just too much power off the line and none of it getting to the wheels. 13.896 @ 102.12 MPH. Well, at least I was back in the 13's... some Friday the 13th, eh?!

So, I let the car and myself cool down for awhile.

The third run I was up against a WRX who hit 14.084 @ 95.45 MPH.

But, on this third run, I slowed down, remembered to breathe... got into my zen mind...

I launched around 1000 rpm's. Oh... how sweet she soared!

I did one more run without a cool down... 13.544 @ 102.24 MPH. My previous best was 13.531@101.93mph. I'm tired... I'll get vids up later this weekend... but, ****... I'm feelin' good!

And launching at low 1000's. Wow. I see 12's in your future dude.

 

12's would be awesome... we'll see if they're in 'er next year. My initial goal with the s/c was a mid 13 second car... so, I'm totally happy! Driveshaft is going in on Monday... I dunno if another trip to the track this year is in the cards since the weather is about to turn.
