Having both a V-6 automatic and a five speed manual GT in our household, thought I would give my two cents worth of comments on the two. The V-6 has more than enough accelleration for a six, and the ride is much more refined than my GT, ( meaning it is quieter, with less road noise and a softer ride over expansion strips and abnormalties in the road ). While under full throttle accelleration, the engine revs higher than I feel comfortable putting it through, but she does get up to highway speeds real quick. Gas mileage wise, ( for strickly in town driving ), the V-6 with automatic and my V-8 manual are running about the same. We are getting 13.5 to 14.0 mpg average. Take into account, this is Northern Illinois, Wintertime, and every start time has approx a 5 minute warm-up period before driving, might account some for being low. Will see in a couple months when the weather gets warmer.
As far as reporting about my GT, what can I say, other than I LOVE THIS CAR! This car speaks for itself. My need for an American V-8 with great sounding dual exhaust, and performance only matched by coupes priced thousands higher, have totally been met. The V-6 is Okay, but my GT is AWESOME. I personally would never have been satisfied in buying a V-6 for myself. I grew up in the muscle car era of the mid sixties, early seventies, and once in your blood, there is no substitute, no matter what your age. I tried to mellow out with more subtle rides, but always ended up getting back into performance oriented American cars. What more can I say.

Rex:
That could very well be. Seems as though very few of the lights are synchronized so the flow of traffic keeps moving at a steady pace. Then you have the intersection where one street tee's into the main street, no car is there to trip the light, and your light turns red so you have to stop. What's up with that? Of course, then there are the times you are behind the person dialing their cell phone, juggling a cup of coffee, and didn't see the light change to green soon enough to go before it changes back to red. They go through on the yellow, and you are stuck for another turn. Not to mention the fire trucks that trigger the lights into green as they come down the street, which means you sit through a total second cycle of light time before you get your chance to move again. Some days you just feel like :bang: and . But then other days are .

One of my concerns about the V6 was the sound... I hoped that it wasn't going to sound whiny or weak. But I was sitting on the main east-west highway in my town a V6 rolled up two lanes over. When the light went green it was by far the best sounding car in the group. It even managed to drown out the fart-can on a riced out Integra.

I've been seeing a decent amount of V6 Stangs around town on the weekends these days. Precious few GT's though.

Ive driven a GT 5-speed and my dads Sonic Blue V6 and I am impressed with the V6. It sounds pretty good too. I washed his car yesterday and he let me drive it around the neighborhood. I had fun!
