yep... i'm here now... just got back from the track! LOL! I had Lidio make a run in my car so I could video it! LOL! I'll try to get the video posted asap....

in the meantime... to answer the question... the X-Cal2 is the way to go... The orig x-cal is just a black box that hold 3 tunes... you push the buttons to get it to load and watch the flashing light to know what it's doing... the x-cal2 has the nice LCD that steps you through the flashing process.. you can now also make changes to the tune right on the X_Cal2! Very very handy! Plus with the x-cal2 you get the datalogging which is useful and very neat... and I've acutally used my x-cal2 now to pull and clear trouble codes...

Thanks for the info John.

Is there anywhere else you'd recommend getting the XCal2 from? You obviously trust Lidio, but I'd rather not have to pay the $.10 per gallon more for gas to go up to Octane 89. There is actually a place here that has Octane 89 for cheaper, but it uses methanol, which reading the manual says I should not use. So anywhere else you'd trust for good tunes on the Xcal2 that I can use with 87 octane?

ok, I guess i'll put this question here. I'm leaning towards the Xcal2 over the predator but was just wondering how compatable it is w/ the various CAI's out there?

OK, just to be 100% clear. There isn't any reason anything that should happen to my car by doing this tune? I shouldn't have any trouble with warranty if I switch it back to stock, and probably wouldn't anyway? I'll get extra HP, acceleration, and response? I'll get better MPG with real world driving?

Real world driving??? LOL. My mpg sucks because I can't get over how fun this car is to drive.

But yes, a tuner will not void your warrenty, and you will get extra hp, acceleration, response, etc. To be safe, you can put the original tune back on before you go in for service.

Good luck on that MPG thing.

I would say yes to everything (but not in a leglly binding way!) except for the MPG... I don't know if it afffected it one way or the other... I mean the MPG went down because my foot was going down more!!! LOL!

well, I'm in an area where I can't exactly floor it all the time, so yes, most of my driving will be normal "real world" driving. Unfortunately the people here are the worst drivers in the country. I'm amazed I've never gotten into a wreck with someone...darn I must be good. So, I might not get an overall increase in MPG since I will drive it harder than I do now, but it shouldn't hurt since it will be better during the other times.

Also, how do you go about ordering from Alternative Auto? I don't see anywhere on their site. Do you have to call them?

ya, and my last question is answered - must call them.

@ Shaun81 what was the cost?

Oh, about the tune - do you have to upgrade the CAI at the same time as doing a new tune? Not that I do not want to upgrade - it's a matter of funds.

You can get Xcal2 tunes for the stock air filter/box.

Remember this, though---if you get a CAI later, you'll most likely need (at least WANT) a new tune to match. You can expect the new tune(s) to cost you somewhere in the $50-150, based on my emails/phone calls with a few SCT dealers....if you find a dealer that will send you the new tunes for free, I'd like to hear about it

So---you might want to go ahead and get the CAI and your XCal2 at the same time---in the long run it will probably save you $$$.

So, my brother n law's neighbor has a '05 GT and just got a Predator. So, where can I get a tune for the Predator/'06 V6? Like cheap!

well i hope you don't plan on using your brother-in-law's neighbors Predator... (i'm getting the feeling that's what you are thinking...) because it will not work... That Predator is now married to that GT and will not work on your car unless he returns his GT to stock... These handheld tuners can only be used on one car at a time...
