Stanger- Im going to have to hire you for our marketing! Actually, the grille shell comes with the grille insert so you dont need to purchase the grille insert as you have shown above. That grille insert that you are quoting is for the stock grille shell. If you use Muscle Cars prices and your figures, you will be able to purchase the 6 Cylinder conversioin for about $500.00. If you already have a GT, it will be less because you wont need the harness kit or the bulbs.

mike you can also do your loom so that it uses the stock gt switch. the gt switch will work on the v6 all of the wires are there. on the back of the gt switch the orange lite /green wire is a ground trigger then turned on. so if you use a bosch relay you can run the power wire right to the main and trigger the relay with the ground that way no power issues. that is how the lighting system on the mustang works everthing goes to the mart junction. i have the gt switch in my v6. you can also run a jumper from the output on the relay to the violet / orange wire on the switch and when the lights are on the led on the switch will lite up. this in my opinioon is the cleanest way looks and works just like a gt . i have the wireing done but also have been waiting for a good kit. as i dont like the over hang or the removal of tabs or forcing the larger gill in the front end. after time it would only make sence that it will crack or tear. anyway i dont need the loom but i have seen many setups switches taped to dash and keyless remotes i just dont get why people dont use the factory switch.

$500 Sounds like a good price point, like I said. I think that's a fair shake for the entire thing. It's a lot of $$$, but I think it's fair.

I knew you had a little trick up your sleave to keep the cost from spinning out of control. As long as your distributors are close to that, I'd say you've got a winner!

I also LOVE your idea Afixer. Anything that can be done to preserve the factory integrity of the system is awesome. I'm a bit lost in your details and the image you posted up is a little tough to read, but I like the general Idea. A factory GT fog switch would really be the only thing I could think of that would make the package PERFECT.

The switch that Mike and his guys have come up with isn't that bad either. It's still very clean and looks like it belongs there. Not bad at all. As for me... Well, I'd LOVE to have the factory switch if I could. If not... I'd still go with the one in the kit. It's a perfectly Viable Alternative.

Since I won't have the cash right away to purchase this kit, I'm going to do some homework and see if I can better understand how the factory switch wires in. If I can get that to make sense... I just might go that route. I guess we'll see!

As for marketing... Just started a new job, but the wife has always wanted to live in California....

EDIT: Wait! I got it! I could be a "Marketing Consultant" LOL!

Good Luck with your continuing efforts! I know there are a lot of us that are anxious to see the final product... I especially can't wait to see it on my car some day! Thanks Mike

stanerx, no prob email me if you want i will walk you threw it. basicly all the wires are there all the way up to the fuse panel under the hood. but thats were they stop this is due to the differant harness for the GT due to addition of the lights. plus for som reason the smart box doesnt see the switch on the v6. my friend and i at ford tried to figure the reason. and cam up with this fix we avent given up on the smart box yet. (its behind the pass side kick panel) anyway the two wires you need to know about are at the back of the switch orange green makes ground when you pull on the (GT switch) and violet /orange is the led on the GT switch when the lights are on ( so run a jumper from the relay to that wire and the light on the switch will light when on) the stock v6 switch just pull right out and the plug is the same including the additional wires not used by the v6 switch but used by the GT. HOpe this helps

Thanks Tom. I'll be sure and shoot you a line as I draw closer to this project. It sounds really interresting for sure. That makes me happy to know that I'll be able to use the factory setup w/ this killer addition.

The more I see it, the more I actually like it over the stock grille. I think it's the black powdercoat that seals the deal. I didn't care for it as much in the other finishes. it looked more like chicken wire. Powder looks best.

Here is a somewhat updated photo of the 6 cylinder grille conversion project. Here is where we are at- the grille shell is done. The shell has been painted satin black. ( They will come painted satin black) This grille insert is black powdercoat. ( you can order this item in black powder coat, black chrome, aluminum or chrome) It is made to use the factory Ford Mustang lights( not included) The wire harness kits are in the final testing phase. We are still a few weeks away, but I can tell you that we have produced the first run of grille shells. They are out at paint now. The grille inserts are at press- they need to go to powder coat, black chrome, chrome, or anodize next. The wire harness kits will start production next week. We are almost there!

And what about the pony? Can it work w/ the stock pony, or will you be putting on or offering that billet one you pictured a while back?

WOW, I'm totally asleep at the wheel here! There's been a torrent of postings here, and I haven't made one yet! What is WITH me! LOL! So as not to dissapoint, I shall make my mark.

It looks OUTSTANDING! I can't wait!

I don't know how you would recycle the factory pony emblem with this. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the pony (minus the chrome insert) is moulded into the factory shell. You will need some alternate sollution regardless, and I'm sure that the billet pony will be available either in the kit, or as an accessory. That would probably be the only way to get a pony on this setup.

Everything looks simply gorgeous. I can't wait to get my hands on this kit! Awesome Job Mike. Simply Amazing.

What's next? We get a shot of it on a car? That's going to really seal the deal for folks. Ooooh it's perfect Mike. Absolutely PERFECT! Hit me!

I don't think my collection pot can grow fast enough!

BIG HATS OFF to you and your team for all of the hard work!

Sadly the thought that I may lose my stars and stripes pony has reduced my interest in this grill. It's a cool grill but imperfect in my mind if it requires me to lose an important element of my car.

Darn I suppose for me this news MIGHT be the precursor to a big :notnice:

If the emblem you have is an overlay, it may very well overlay on top of the billet emblem that will be offered (see the pic of the GT front facia I posted up on P3, I think it was). I'm not sure exactly what you have, but I would guess there is some solution for it. I'm not pitching the product, but I'm sure there's a way to have your cake and eat it too.

I know for me, I'll be too busy staring at those beautiful fogs to even NOTICE anything else. Do you have a link to the emblem you have? Perhaps we can help you come up with some way of making it work, or maybe mike can offer a solution in the final build.

Ok, here are the installation instructions for the emblem:
http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/tech_...ipes%20Pony.doc
Given that, I don't see why someone can't develop a clip that would secure that to the grille. There woud be several ways to do something like this, and I'm sure someone will.

I would look into the way that the billet pony is mounted. there may be a way to mount the factory horse (or this replacement emblem) in similar fashion. You could also make a plate that would go behind the grille, press the emblem through the front of the grille, and then use the retainers to clip it into place.

I'm sure that once we all get our hands on them, we'll come up with a suitable solution. it seems easy enough to me.
Mike... got a magic answer???

One of the Gents in the exterior mods section worked up a quick-n-dirty chop for me. It's not outstanding, but it gives you a rough idea of what it would look like (on my car ) Like I said... not perfect, but enough to where if you stare at it for a few minutes, you can get the general idea. Remember... the picture had a white background, so that's why the grill isn't showing off the powder coat as nicely.

Enjoy, and thanks for your help - pstu102727
