6 cylinder grille conversion kit from Street Scene
I thought you all would like to see the new grille conversion kit for the 6 cylinder 05 Mustangs. This will be available within the next couple of weeks from Street Scene. This kit is made to bolt directly in to the 6 cylinder Mustang as it uses all the 6 cylinder mounting tab. It is the correct size and shape for the 6 so no modes need to be made. The grille shell is made from urethane and will come black satin powder coated. It will use the factory GT lights and will contain a Street Scene Speed Grille. You will need to order the lights directly from Ford. The Speed Grille inserts will be available in your choice of Black Chrome, Black Powder Coat, brushed aluminum or chrome. It will come so that you can wire it directly to your parking lights so each time you turn on your lights the driving lights will come on OR you can order the optional wire harness kit that will include the dash mounted switch, wire harness, plugs for the lights and relay. Prices are still being worked on at this time. This kit is made to make the 6 cylinder look just like the GT. ( except for the Speed Grilles) I will post pictures on a 6 as soon as the package becomes available.

I have been waiting for someone to come up with this. I just couldnt bring myself to squeeze and hack a GT grille into mine and have it with that gap. Or cut up the V6 grille to put the 5 inch utility lights.
Funny you should ask- we just finished a meeting about the use of the OEM Pony- we are going to find out for sure but we dont think it will work because of the diffrence of the backside angle of the pony. Our grille has some curve to it while the OE is pretty flat at that area of the grille. We think we will need to offer a billet Pony in its place.. With this set up, you wont need to cut or hack anything. It has all the oe attachment points, and uses the OE lights. It has the plastic ring around the lights just like the OE one. It should be pretty trick when its done.

GT grilles fit, just not perfectly. I've been waiting for an aftermarket grill for the v6 that has foglights, i love the foglight look.

When you wire the fog lights direct to the parking lights it will overload the system. The wire is small. When you turn on the parking lights the fog lights come on at a delay and finally go out. This does not seem to be the case for cars with out Shaker 1000 or anti lock brakes. I am no expert in this field, but I have been involved in the instalation in 3 cars. 1 with no extra's is wired direct to the parking lights and works fine. The other 2 were rewired to have a relay and then a switch added. I like this grill, but still not what I am looking for. I want a factory looking grill that fits, but looks like a GT. Thanks
Thats good to know Dynaflash- we havent tried it ourselves yet as we have been developing the optional wire loom kit. We got that idea from a Ford Dealer who is doing 6 cylinder conversions now using aftermarket driving lights and a cut up grille shell with the Street Scene Speed Grille insert- they showed us how their wire their lights- they wire them directly to the parking lights. We will look into it more.
Jahnnee5- The picture you posted is an actual GT grille shell with a speed grille. The Speed Grille for the GT is a little flater in the center than the conversion grille. The conversion grille has a little more ark to it. We are still playing with it..
The problem with wiring directly into the park lights is that you cant turn off the fogs without turning off everything. Thats not a wise way to go. You can wire them into the park lights if you use a seperate switch and just use the park lights to trip the relay to turn the fogs on.
Thats why we are also going to offer a complete optional wire harness kit with a relay and switch for those who are willing to go the extra mile to do it right. I think its the way to go, but we have had several dealers who want the cheeper way out. They are actually doing it the cheeper way now with a hand made grille and some aftermarket lights.
I don't really care for the GT look with the fog lights. I just want fog lights. I find them useful when driving in foggy conditions.
For me it is a case of function over form.
I bought a V6. If I wanted a GT I would have spent the money and got it. I'm not ashamed of spending less and having less power. It just seemed stupid to spend the money just to get fog lights.

Cool idea! I hope you have a more "factory" grille option in the future for it, I don't care for the Speed Grille.

That's illegal here in Texas. By law, fog or driving lights must go out when the high beams are engaged.

You might be interested in the Pony Package grille for '06. It will no doubt be the hot accessory item for '05's too. I've actually read posts from some of the GT guys saying they want it for their cars too!

Here is an updated picture of the 6 cylinder conversion grille shell from Street Scene. The speed grille insert will be available in black powder coat, black chrome, brushed aluminum ( as shown) or chrome. The rings around the lights are same as OE and it uses the OE GT lights. Its almost complete, but I thought you would enjoy seeing some photos as it makes its progress through our design center.
