WMS Intake Wire Splicing Option

I saw it too and went to my local dealer [foolishly without the PN] who was NO help at all. He tried to sell me an old harness with the wrong plug.
Two other guys there for parts [from garages] were rolling their eyes as the parts guy wouldn't even get his lazy butt up to look.

I wish I had waited. I was excited to install the intake, but regret cutting the stock wires. Hopefully it won't create any future problems... fingers crossed.

Mike E, Lyin' King, even though I cut my wires I'm still interested in buying a plug-n-play when you are able to get one available.
John, I think we'll be ok. Once a female connector becomes avail can't we just buy the replacement harneness as Bob did, unplug our cut one and plug in the replacement piece and connect it to the new female end? I think we'd be able to just unplug our cut piece and plug in the new extension piece? I can't visualize this without my car in front of me so I may not be thinking this thing through all the way
Thanks guys for keeping the fire going on the plug-n-play
Ok . . . geez . . . I admit it . . . . I love playing detective!!!!!!!
I found out who made the female side for Ford that plugs into the MAF.
:banana2:
It's Tyco Electronics (AMP)
.
http://ecommas.tycoelectronics.com/commerc...CPN=1-1419168-2
I e-mailed their customer support folks inquiring whether there is a male counter part to this connector and if not . . . whether they'd make one
.
Hopefully they'll get back to me . . .

Awesome! I will pass the Tyco info on to the guy working on it for me as well...

I spoke to Justin at Caspers this morning and he already knew the plug was a Tyco part. He said that some places [maybe Diablo] pay to have their own mate made and that tooling can cost $10k, which is worth it if "you are the only one with the product"...
He said there is still one company he's waiting to hear back from, so we are still hanging in there...
I was just thinking [I know: dangerous] that I have never called Diablo myself, does anyone have a contact or number for them? I will try my patented whining and wheedling technique on them...
Seriously, I'd like to find out if they made or bought the connector they use for that supercharged translator wire...

Great minds stink alike! I thought of that myself but just posted to see if anyone had their setup so we could get the numbers off the connector.
I was just searching their site and they have this thing called the "MAF.IA." which is the supercharger thing. I'm worried because the end that attaches to the MAF is a large "device" with what looks like an integral connector.
I will call them.

We aren't worried about the MAF side itself though because the Ford harness extension takes care of that side, we need a male connector to attach to the original female plug that went into the MAF in the stock configuration.
Maybe the guys that have responded to my MAF.i.a post can tell us?

I couldn't tell which end went where from the picture on their site.

[attachmentid=35562]Ok, I spoke to Diablosport [First tech support, then Dan in sales]. After a bit of back and forth, [mostly over the $180 translator /extension they have for the supercharged applications] I was told that they HAVE the parts to make a simple wire and they are planning to do it in the next month or less, [a soon as a week!] if they get some interest from us.
So: Email dan@diablosport.com, or call 561-908-0040, or whatever to show we have some interest in this thing.
He couldn't /wouldn't give me a price on the thing and wouldn't let me order one as it is not "in the computer yet". Dan said they do have the things "almost ready to go" except no part number so he can't reference it. I told him I would expect the thing to be around $50, but he did't react to that.
I'm trying to attach the picture of the "MAF.ia" extension. The core image shows that the plug end is the part that goes to the MAF and the "translator" thing has the male connector we so desperately need on it. I can't tell if it is actually molded in or not.
Call or email them!

Cool!
E-mail sent . . .
Dan,
One of our members (Mike) spoke to you today about our desire for a male connector to mate up with the stock female MAF harness connector (and the Ford pigtail containing a female connector, P/N 3U2Z-14S411-FJAA). This connector would enable us to extend the reach of the harness a foot or so without splicing for the WMS CAI that two dozen of us have purchased thus far.
Please consider this e-mail an expression of my interest in the simple two connector wired extension kit (not the MAF.i.a) you spoke of offering within the next month or so.
Sincerely,
Bob . . . A.K.A. TMS Member Name . . . . "The Lyin' King"

Nice note Bob... Hopefully not TOO many people will have given up on the extension yet. I know there were a few that were waiting for it to buy the intake.
I think that the extension will help those "do-it-yourselfers" out there as well...

On another note . . . the supercharged guys with the MAF.i.a have been very helpful

Here's my email to Dan@diablosport.com:
Dan,
I'm interested in an extension for the 05 Mustang GT's MAF wire. I know you already sell the MAF.ia. thing for the supercharges applications, but I don't need that and am hoping that a simple extension of the wire [plugs both ends] will be $50 or $60, and not $180.
There are a bunch of people who have purchased air intake assemblies that require the longer wire and I know that there more people who are building their own and will need to relocate the MAF.
Thanks!

Here's my letter:
Hi Dan,
I'm interested in an extension for the 05 Mustang GT's MAF factory wiring. I know you already sell the MAF.ia. extension for the supercharger application, but I was hoping that a simple extension of the wires [plugs on both ends] could be provided or created. The present MAF.ia is functional, but pricey for this application, and a simple 8 to 10 inch male - female extension would be perfect.
There are a bunch of people who have purchased cold air intake systems that require the longer MAF harnass, and I know that there are more people who are building their own and will need to relocate the MAF sensor. The present option of just extending the wires via spicing is patch work at best.
Members of themustangsource.com have expressed interest in this new MAF extension provided by Diablosport, and I'd like to add my name to that list. I'm sure this would be a good selling item for Diablosport, and it would provide the growing number of Mustang modifiers a chance to check out Diablosport's line up via your single source supplier of a much needed extension.
The word will get out that Diablosport.com is the place to get your MAF extension......
Thanks!
