Cool . . . got mine in today so it would be nice to have options.

I checked with Lehr Auto Electric here in Sacramento. They do the electronics gear retro-fitting work on all the state rigs (police cars). I figured they work on mostly new Fords so these guys would problably know of something.

I asked them if there was a female connector available to mirror that which is on the MAF thinking that we could get one of them and then tie it to the male Ford MAF harness/connector Brent surfaced . . . . . "WPT795 Motorcraft Number or 3U2Z14S411FJAA Ford Parts Counter Part Number".

Unfortunately . . . . . I struck out :notnice: . . . . dude said the connector type is way too application specific to be available on anything other than that MAF sensor.

I don't accept this as the final word since Diablo Sport sourced their female plug for the MAF.ia. from somewhere but they are the best in the area so it was worth a shot.

Anyone have an inside connection (no pun) at Diablo that might tell us where to get the female end?

An update of sorts...

I talked to Justin at Caspers and they are still working on it. I will check back with him early next week. Mike at FullThrottleSpeed said "it is not a priority as we are working on some other things". Oh well. So then I emailed another place, Racetronix [couldn't find a phone number] with all of the info I have including the photos I took of the plug and MAF on my car.

So nothing so far, except the happy news that it IS possible as Diablo did it as you all know. Mike L did tell me that places like "EPC" who manufacture those plugs don't deal with little guys very well: They'd much rather sell Ford 10,000 plugs for them to make their own harnesses from.

"Endeavour to persevere" [ie it ain't over yet...]

For anyone thinking of buying this kit. I just got done with mine. I would not purchase it until a plug is provided unless you're very comfortable with cutting, stripping, and crimping wires, and then heatshrink on top. There's very little room for error. Not knocking the kit, it's great, but would be much improved with a plug.

mikeelia,

Any news from the folks you've been in touch with about the MAF harness extension?

No happy news... I talked to Justin at Casper's this morning 8:30am pst [after getting excited yesterday afternoon when another guy there said "I know Justin's been working on it, you'll have to talk to him..."] and he said it is still possible though he's heard from one or two of their suppliers that they can't do it, there are others he hasn't back from yet. He said sometimes the suppliers who CAN do it can take a couple of weeks to get back to him. The companies that can't get back right away. He said I can call him again next week.

Still no response from Racetronix, after two emails. I may try one of their distributors to see if they can talk to them directly or give me a number for them.

I called Mike L at FullThrottleSpeed also this morning and he said it was just too hard to get the parts so it isn't something he is going to mess with "in the foreseeable future".

My replacement ram air plate is on my kitchen table [sometimes it pays to be a single guy], and the rest of the stuff is sitting in the box on the floor there as well. I want this on my car too!!! I don't know how long I want to put off putting it on, just like you.

darn, I just don't want to cut that harness! If I do, I personally will be soldiering the connections and then using heat shrink tubing though. <sigh>

Mike,

Thanks for all the leg work, sounds like we're pretty much dead in the water so to speak .

I wonder where Diablo Sport got the female end they are using in their MAF kit for blown cars . . . this seems to be the only piece made of unobtainium :bang: since the male harness/end is apparently available from Ford  .

I guess this grind is the reason WMS didn't supply a moulded connector based harness extension in the kit :notnice: .

Alright . . . I haven't had enough free time around home to install the darn thing :bang: but I do have enough time to swing by the closest Ford Dealership on my way home from work to grab parts . . . so I grabbed P/N 3U2Z14S411FJAA (Ford Parts Counter Part Number), the MAF harness mentioned earlier in this post.

It has wires that are approx. 10"-14" long (haven't freed it from the bag yet) so if nothing else it will reduce the number of splices required for the extension issue.

I'm going to try and shop it around all the logical places in Sacramento that I can find in an attempt to locate a femal side of some sort .

The darn thing looks familar to me for some reason (and no, it's not from when I lift my hood ). If I strike out at the obvious places, I'm hitting the motor cycle joints, big rig lighting stores, maybe the local pick-n-pull and other places I've been to in the last few years while snatching stuff for my Jeeps.

I'll try and get some pictures of it tomorrow if anybody cares what it looks like.

I gave another guy a shot [Dennis Kirban], but when I gave him the background I already have, he said I was doing all I could and he thought that I'd already tried the places he might.

I called Caspers for my weekly check in, and nothing yet.

The splicing appears to be inevitable...

Thanks for all the work Mike !

I'm going to dig around and see what I can unearth anyway  . . . but if nothing else, this harness creates a one splice per wire solution instead of two per wire so in my mind it's worth the $24.00 bucks.

If staggered properly the splice area will be of minimal thickness and contained to just one spot that should be easy to make look stock .

I just wanted to give an update that I am still working on finding us a plug and play extension for the MAF wire [trying to get some auto electrical suppliers to build it]. Since I personally haven't gotten around to putting the thing in anyway, it is still a possibilty for me. I know a lot of you couldn't wait though.

The best possible case would still be a few weeks out.

I'm still digging too . . .

Lack of spare time has prevented my splicing/installing yet. At least I have the harness extension so if nothing pans out it's six less splices to make.

Bob,

In case you didn't read my post I thought I would let you know I installed my intake last weekend. The extension works great.

I wish I had waited. I was excited to install the intake, but regret cutting the stock wires. Hopefully it won't create any future problems... fingers crossed.

I saw it too and went to my local dealer [foolishly without the PN] who was NO help at all. He tried to sell me an old harness with the wrong plug.

Two other guys there for parts [from garages] were rolling their eyes as the parts guy wouldn't even get his lazy butt up to look.
