Conservatively, I'd say if you do a lot of driving in the drone RPM range then you are going to hate it after a while. At 55 mph, press the gas in 5th gear and it is pretty bad, like pressure on your ears or something. Not too fun.

The rest of the time it sounds great! I am going to get some Dynamat or equivalent to put under the rear sets, trunk, and perhaps exterior above the muffler cans and see if that tames the beast. Otherwise you can go with 4.10s and solve the problem.

i was worried about the drone too.
Don't be scared, go for it.

I was on the fence on either stingers or GTA's.
I'm so glad I went with stingers.
I wanted to hear the difference loud and clear.

Lol... this is starting to feel like the dude with the halo on one side (JBAs) and the dude with horns on the other (stingers) fighting to get their way...

At this point I don't have a clue. I don't want to deal with something annoying but I'd like for it to sound mean when I want it to. So far everything I have found on the JBAs I like. There is a great vid up on the old google videos.

Compares the two but not much of the JBAs. Stock and Stingers with the JBAs.

Stingers are the best Ive heard man. I seriously get so many compliments on the exhaust. From friends, as well as the random homies in their cars, sportbikes, everything. Sooo worth it

Randy, I was debating between Stingers and GTAs for a long time and I too was afraid the drone would be too much. When it came time to pull the trigger however I was more concerned that I would hae paid good money and not sound different enough.

I went with the FRPP Stingers and I do not regret it at all. In fact I would have been disappointed with anything quieter for sure! The drone is there - for me it's 1600-2000 rpm but it does get better. Or maybe I am just used to it like others have said, either way I would not trade them for anything.

Every time I hear a Borla clip it sounds low and mean -- and consistently better than anything else they're compared to. That's just my opinion as a GT owner with a stock exhaust. I'd get the Borlas if I could (just had a baby so stuff like that is on hold); they're the real deal.

You live just once, man.

Well, as they say, "Your mileage may vary." Everyone has a different interpretation of how bad drone is.

I, too, was concerned about the dreaded "drone" issue. I just installed the FRPP Stingers on my '07 GT - the only performance mod I've done so far (other than upgrading the tires) - and I don't find it bad at all. As others have noted, certain RPM/speed/gear combinations will make it more noticeable than others, but even when it is noticeable, it really isn't that bad, frankly, and you can usually adjust your RPMs, or speed...or shift into another gear.

I notice the drone primarily in my underground parking garage. My car is backed up against a wall, and when you first start the car, the first minute or so you can really hear the drone echo through the garage (it even sets off one of my neighbor's car alarms! ). But that settles down to an acceptable level within a couple of minutes.

But I'll tell you this: they sound dang cool! No regrets here.

I finally got to hear my FRPP stingers from the outside ... wife did a few drive-by's for me, ran thru the gears, etc . WOW! LOVE the sound. Perfect IMHO. Got comments on the good sound twice yesterday.

I agree. The sound is bloody near perfect. Throaty and aggressive, but not obnoxious

Yup!
I won't mention the fact that she laughed at me when I had her drop me roadside and asked her to drive by a few times. She did say "it sounds great".

She probably just enjoyed the fact that you let her drive it without you in the car.

I have the JBA's and love them. Nice healthy low rumble at idle and are definitely louder than stock. They have actually gotten louder after 200 miles, though they aren't too loud. There is a little drone when crusing in the 1500-1800rpm range but nothing thats annoying. To me they sound like the flowmasters that I heard at the dealership. Someone else had compared them to flowmasters as well which is what caught my attention to begin with. Kristina aka Rondosa convinced me to give these a try so maybe she'll chime in as well. Sorry, I'm probably not making this any easier am I?

The best sounding axle backs I have tried and I have tried a lot. They are the smoothest sounding, have a nice gurgle on decent, bad *** open throttle, and a little drone. But if you add 373 gears, it is perfect, not much drone. I love these, they are the way the mustang was supposed to come. good luck

Tacobill has stingers and plenty of videos from inside the car.
