I was on the fence about buying this kit but whipple just made up my mind for me. I'm now 7k dollars richer. Thanks Whipple!!!! Maybe I'll put that 7k as a downpayment for the new challenger. hmmmmmmmmm????

Maybe the girl might have to cancel her Victoria Secret Card!

Let her keep the card, that's good for both of you!

Are they kidding? Car part prices are supposed to come down, not up, as the model ages. You charge the premium for a new design to make back your R&D money, which they have to have done by now.

I'm with the above posters, this will be a show-stopper for people (like me!) who were on the fence about going FI.

Prices are not going to come down for a while since this same 4.6L motor is being used in the 2010 model and beyond. At least till 2013 when Ford has to stop selling all V8 engines. Ford isn't going to be releasing a new engine before that, this will be the final version of the V8.

2013? Are you sure about that? I was told the world is supposed to end in 2012.

I'm sure they'll go up in price just like everything has lately, but not 1k. I also find it interesting the only mention of this has been from Tillman. They threw this out on several other forums with their sales pitch as well.

I'd also expect the prices to drop when the 2010 stangs are released...

Yeah it sounds like someone is trying to scare people into buying something now. A $1000 increase will kill sales. Especially in a recession like we're in now. I'm not spending any more money on my car. I'll either keep it and pay it off or trade it for a 2011 Stang or Camaro. $7000 for a SC is just insane.

Oh yea... it's only us. We just want an extra grand for our pockets. That's how we've stayed in business since 1979.

Don't you think if we just made this up it would hurt our reputation and we know that? Don't you think I called and spoke to Whipple about this before I posted? Wow, way to have faith in your vendors. Sorry I warned you. I'll make sure I keep my mouth shut about price increases from now on.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but please don't hate the middle man.

They will price themsleves out of the market just as other compaines(accross all industries) have done when they think thier **** dont stink. Unfortunately the employees of said companies are the ones who get the **** end of the stick usually. I honestly do not think the market will support a $7k S/C not the way things are now a days. Mustang sales are down as with most other V8's, I dont see how they can justify a $1000 increase but its thier company and product so they can do as they wish, they just wont have me as a customer.

I can see the 08' kit being more expensive since they had to redesign the intake to include a carbon element in order to get the emissions cert. Some of the other manufactures sold a supplemental kit to meet emissions standards...$350 extra...still can't see $1000.

I dont think its ALL cars, I think thats a CAFE average - which basically means the average of all cars in the manufacturers lineup has to come up to an average of 35 MPG. So, they could have one platform that gets an average of 25 MPG and another platform that gets 45 MPG - the overall average would be 35 MPG. Not so sure its going to be easy to meet this for sure.

with hybrids getting 40 and 50 mpg it shouldnt be too hard for them. Granted the guzzlers may very well go like the chargers and challengers because they are pigs but the stang's(atleast the s197's) are already thier as far as highway mpg goes. The sticker on my 06 I believe said 17/23mpg. Shouldnt be too hard for them to squeeze it a bit more out them. I think it'll hurt full size trucks and SUV's more than it would cars like the mustang.

Glad I've already got my land yacht for my family of 7. Otherwise we'd be driving two Priuses in the future to get anywhere. Now If I can just rig it to run off of coal.
