Im putting a saleen S/C on my 07 with a 3.5" pulley rated at about 7-8# of boost and 39# injectors.Do i need a GT500 shelby fuel pump or will my stock pump handle it.Thanks .Any input would be appreciated.

Your stock pump would likely handle it, you could always add a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump (BAP) for additional insurance. Whatever you do though, get it on a dyno to check output and air/fuel ratio before you go out romping on it for the first time. Who's tune are you going to run with your setup?

With a 3.4" (8.5 psi) pulley the stock fuel pump will be maxed out at 6,200 RPM and will run lean above that RPM.

Now having said that, many people are running a 3.4" pulley without upgrading the fuel pump. A FPDM wiring upgrade will allow you to run the 3.4" pulley up to 6,500+ RPM and the fuel pump duty cycle will be right at 90%.

Let your wallet be your guide.

question down the line is are you going to run more boost? if you think you are, get a BAP or gt500 setup if you have the cash. if i was you, like mentioned, get the car on a dyno and make sure that the stock pump is doing its job. i probably would upgrade the pumps just to be safe.

The KB BAP is good to 500 rwhp (KB says about 535 rwhp). I've been running mine for over 1-1/2 years with no problems.

I would go with the GT500 setup for anything smaller than the 3.6. Oh, and colder spark plugs, HT0s are they way to go. Just be careful taking the stock plugs out, you dont want to break them! I just installed the 3.6" pulley with the stock plugs and had some spark blowout at WOT.

the pumps are far cheaper than a blown motor.

What exactly does the boost-a-pump do? Increase/stabilize the voltage to the factory to make it work harder?

I remember some turbo import guys doing a "hot wire" mod to achieve something similar.

A Boost a pump increases the voltage to the fuel pump on demand. A larger gauge wire in also need to handle the additional amp flow.
