Where can I buy suspension bolts/nuts?
Where can I buy suspension bolts/nuts? I'm modding the suspension later this month and thought I should have replacements on hand, especially as Ford stresses that stuff put on at the factory are one time use pieces. Any suggestion as to where I can look?

Your local Ford or Lincoln Mercury dealer parts store.
Might order in advance from Kevin (Cleve parts). he will give you a good price, but check shipping ... it may more than eat up what you save.

FORD. Most of the harware is special with either built in captive washers, or tabs that ease assembly, etc.
I am doing some of my suspension today. I changed the lower strut nuts and the sway bar link nuts up front. In the back I am changing the lower control arm hardware.
Some of the nuts have aluminum locking inserts, they need replacing too. By rights that is, some locktight would probably serve the need just as well.

Most of these bolts are torque to yield. Should not be used again. Shop manual refers. They are also metric.
If you have a high tolerence for risk, do what some of the guys above recommend.

The suspension bolts and nuts are torque to yield and should not be reused.
The nuts are Ny-Lock, the front LCA nuts also have in the assembly what I call a crush washer, can be crushed "one time".
The bolts can be reused but their length should be checked against new bolts. If the old bolts did not return to the new bolt length then they will have to be replaced.
Your looking at about $35 for the new LCA bolts and nuts from Ford.

Your Ford dealer will have them or be able to have them the next day.

If you notice, the shoulder diameter on the stock bolts is not the same the whole length of the bolt. I’m using solid bushings on one end of my LCA and Panhard bar so I wanted full contact the entire length of the bushing. I could only find plain bolts locally (not corrosion resistant) which is interesting since I live in the Detroit area. I got my bolts (Zinc plated, 10.9, 14mm) on-line from Bolt Depot. Interestingly, I could get plated nylock nuts locally. Go figure.
