When should I clean my JLT1 CAI Filter

I've got a JLT1 CAI kit installed in my 2005 GT.

I've had it in for roughly 17,000 miles.

The cone filter looks pretty dirty to me but it might be just fine - i don't know.

Should I clean it or leave it alone.

If I decide to clean it, how do I clean it?
