My buddy has a set of BFG drag radials to go to the track with on his Camaro. Results were better than BFG KDWs, but I think something like a M/T ET Street is the next we will go with. Suspension also plays a large role with traction at the drag strip. That's why there are 7 second cars with the drag radials. Can't speak for the Nittos, though.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Nittos lately. I am going to be in the market for a cheap but good 255/50/17 in the near future. BFG's are great tires, but expensive on a car that I burn a good bit of rubber. The best rated tires for the money that I've seen are the Fuzion ZRi. And they have a nice aggressive tread pattern. That's on my list now.

Ask Boss Hog what not to get. He is not at all happy with his BFG after spending a wad.

Any idea on what type of BFG's he got? I love mine for what I use them for, daily driving rural, city, highway and everynow and then letting her rip.

For the strip, I have the 275/35R18 BFG drag radials (new tread design) on 18x9.5 in rims. They have not worked well for me. :notnice: In fairness to BFG, I must say that they were advertised as working great "...especially for fwd imports." I interpreted that as meaning they were extra sticky. Unfortunately what it meant was that the sidewalls were very stiff. The combination of stiff side walls with a short (35) aspect ratio means as soon as you drop the tire pressure below about 24 psi, you loose the center of the tread. Hind sight is always 20/20 but I should have gone with the BFG old tread design 275/40R17. With rims, that leason only cost me $800

The M/T ET street radials hook awesome. I have a set 26x11.5-17 mounted on 17x9 bullitt wheels. You really have to know how to launch properly to get the most out of the tires. It can take you 3-6 launches (same day or conditions) to know what rpm to leave at. I usually leave at 6000 and it hooks great. The other night, I would spin at 6000 and would bog at 5000. I found my sweet spot at 5200-5500. It changed as the sun went down and it cooled off a bit (92 down to 88 degrees).
