What did I break?

I posted this on another board as well, but I'm looking for all the inputs I can get.

Installed Che torque limiters on Thursday night and went to the track for the weekend. Noticed 2nd and 3rd were a biatch to get into at 65k RPM. After 6 passes and two grinds into 3rd, I took off the limiters. When I disconnected the first one at the brace, not the bell housing, that side of the engine dropped down 1/8 - 1/4". Scared the crap out of me. The other side did the same. Shiftting did not get any better and I stopped racing. Now I it won't shift well into 2nd or 3rd above 55k RPM. Up to 55k it's smooth as butter.

I don't know how the engine got raised up as I didn' really fight the bolts going into the bell housing. Now I'm wondering if the engine/tranny being raised like that caused problems with the shifter arm that goes into the tranny or maybe the synchros.

Thoughts?

Alex... I don't have the CHE K-member with torque limiters, but I have looked into the unit.. From the pictures on their website, the limiters are adjustable at the bellhousing end and you shouldn't have had to put any pressure on the mounting bolts to install the unit. That being the case, I don't understand how your engine dropped 1/8" to 1/4" when you removed them.

I would check the motor mounts, maybe they broke during the 6 passes. I can't see how that would happen if the K-member and limiters were installed correctly, they should have prevented the engine from torquing over.

No issues with mine but then I haven't installed them yet. I think a broken motor mount might be a good guess.

A broken motor mount would not be a bad thing since I have aftermarket motormounts sitting right here on the floor.

Sounds like a broke motor mount. I haven't installed my CHE K member brace or torque limiters yet. Or the driveshaft loop.
