I want to put a C&L intake with a Pred tune. This will void the warranty completely right? Is there any way around it or do I just have to wait another 2 years? Well from searching around on the forum, I'm guessing that if I ran into a problem, with the re-tune, it would be possible to put back the original stock tune and obivously I could re-install the old intake? So if I took it to the dealer they wouldn't see any bolt-ons.

Maybe the "VOIDED WARRANTY" question should be a sticky. It has been asked enough.

A mod can't void a warranty unless it causes the problem. If the mod does cause the problem, then you have to pay for that work, but the warranty still stays in effect. Do a search on here and you can find an article written about a lawsuit.

It will only voide the ENGINE warranty if it is found to cause a problem. Your warranty for the entire rest of the car will be fine. What most people do is reflash back to stock tune and put the stock intake back on prior to taking it to the dealer for service.

Don't forget, a dealer wants to make money by doing warranty repair unless Ford is adament about not paying for it.

It only voids your warranty if you don't put the stock air box and tune back in when you bring it in

Hummm... I have had plenty of warranty work done to mine and have never put the stock airbox, intake tube, or tune in prior.

After all the posts I've read, sounds like the biggest factor is simply how much of a hard*** your service manager wants to be. Also, the more extensive the mod, the more likely you'll get static from them. Roll of the dice.

If the CEL comes on in my car, I'm definitely restoring the stock tune before it goes in for service. Why risk it? Problem is, of course, the more hardware mods you add, the harder it gets to return to stock.

GAH! Had to edit, the forum monitor automatically changed my "hard***" to "hardhiney!"
