TPMS Fault question...

Well I put oem wheels (with sensors) back on the car because I'm returning it to stock. The wheels I had on didn't have pressure sensors, so of course, I always saw a fault when I started the car. Well I bought some wheels and tires that have them installed (all OEM stuff), but I'm still getting a fault. Do I need to reset anything?

Thanks,
Brandon

Have you tried driving the car first? It takes a few miles to wake up the sensors. They turn off when they are not used for a while. Second, you may have to take it to the dealership to calibrate the sensors. Takes about 5 min.

Yeah, I've driven it 50 miles. I guess I'll have to take it in to the dealership...are you for sure that they can "calibrate" them/need to be?

yep, they calibrate them the same way they would calibrate a brand new sensor.

You will have to take the car in to have them calibrated.

I bought Bullitt wheels with TPMS and tires mounted and balanced from Tire Rack for my GT 07. I asked the sales staff what I have to do when I get the wheels at the Mustang. They told me. The sensors are OEM parts. Usually nothing had to be done. If I had difficulties with tire pressure warning lamp, I should go to the FORD dealer ship to solve the problem. Do I have to activate or calibrate in any case?

You can buy a programmer/training tool for $13.00 and do it yourself, thats what I did. It's very simple to do. I did not personally price it but I heard the dealers can charge upward of $150.00 to program the sensors.

Robbieg, do you have some info on the programmer? Is it a generic tool or specific to our cars? Where can I find it?

Thanks...

Al

I believe you can rotate wheels from the same vehicle without problems as long as the oem spec tire pressures, listed on the pillar decal, are the same from front to rear. If the tires have different spec pressures front to rear and you rotate tires, they have to be reprogrammed by a programmer supplied with the cars owners manual. If you use sensors from another vehicle I believe they have to be reprogrammed to the new vehicle because each sensor has it's own serial number recognized by the car it was with originally. I'm pretty sure I have this right.

Any tire/wheel shop has the programmers to do this. it takes a couple mins. Dont go to Ford, they will probably charge a million dollars

Yea, but if there is a tool for $13.00 out there and I can do it myself, then swapping out tires won't cost me at a tire shop each time I decide to do it.

It is a Ford part and it comes with the new F-350's. The part number is
8C2Z-1A203-A You can do a search at any ford parts places, I got mine here:

https://www.tituswillfordparts.com/

Just click "already have a part number" link.
It's very simple to use and only takes a minute, here are the instructions to programm the sensors:
