Tools for a cam swap?
If you are going to do springs I suggest lock outs and no phase limiters. Have your tuner zero out the variable cam timing function. The added friction of the new springs won't jive with the VCT system and will cause the timing changes to lag (slow) and God forbid if the phasers ever malfunction in some way....pop! Look into the BBR stage 2 cams. They lay down some power. You can get the cams, Manley springs and lockouts shipped for under $1000. Comp likes to push the phase limiters which is fine on the cam kits without springs, but many top tuners are against the phase limiters with a spring swap.
I'm going to stick with these cams as it's already shipped. Would i still be able to drive the car with the lockouts to the tuner or would that necessitate towing it? I'm not sure when the car starts up whether or not it will go into safe mode with lockouts...
I think livernois has lockouts on their site and I'm not doing the comp cam limiters.

I just know that if you do a spring swap the VCT system will have a lag time and won't respond as quick as the Ford engineers intended. It's do to the added friction from the heavier springs. That's why a lot of guys use the lockouts. I personally haven't tried it...I'm going from what I've read from different tuners out there. I have a twin screw blower so I'm not worried too much about VCT because the blower makes lots of power down low so VCT is not needed for good low end torque. Comp kind of came up with the idea of phase limiters to allow the limited use of the VCT system. They have been pushing the system, but there's no doubt that many top tuners say lock out the VCT all together.
