My plan is to put 555R Nittos with 10 inch wheels on the rear and 8 1/2 in front but I do not have a clue what tire to put on the front as everyone is talking rear tires. I do not care what brand or if they even match the rear. I just don't want to run soft tires in the front. Thanks

There has been some discussion about his lately in another thread. It really depends on what you want to do with it. Do you want to use the rear tires for everyday use or just at the drag strip?

If you're putting 555Rs ont he back, I would put 235/55/17s on the front with 555s (not Rs)

I thought the R was for radial. Am I wrong in this? I do know a radial is required on all four and one can get into serious trouble not doing so. I an talking on the street not the strip.

Yes... the "R" is the drag radial. A quick visit to the Nitto website will explain all the different tires they offer.

That 555s tire is a soft tire and not what I am looking for. Nittos site said the 555r are good for 15,000 miles. I want at least twice that in the front and as I have said I do not care if they are the same brand or not.

That would be a big stretch IMO. They must be assuming that there will be no burnouts done on those drag radials. A tire with only 6/32 tread depth will be hardpressed to last 15K miles.

Why not use the the Nitto 450s up front? I have 14,000 miles on mine now, and they have a bunch of tread left. They'll easily last over 30K miles.

I like the sound of both.......if you're moving enough air through the intake, it truely does have a sweet sound to it!

OK Don that is why I am asking cause I don't know dip about it and know someone here does. How many miles do you think I would get out of BFGs on the rear? The price of these things are far out. I plan to purchase four Coddington 18 Smoothies and you know this is one heck of a $$ hit.

I have only used the Nittos on my car, so I can't really comment on the BFGs. As far as cost, the Nittos ran me about $125-$130 per tire... not too bad.
