I run the NITTO 555 in 275/40ZR18 on my STEEDA wheels and like they way they stick on the street. On my Halibrand Wheels I run Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's in the same size as my NITTO's. The Goodyears work much better alround on the street I feel. 275 are as wide as you should realy run on a 9-inch rim. Most tire manufactures recomend that 285's be installed on 9.5 to 11-inch rims. You could put them on 9-inch rims but realy they are no bigger than 275's on a 9-inch rim. You just get more tire bulge with the 285's.

thanks. I'd prefer the outside diameter to be a bit bigger than stock. Ideally a 285/45/18 would suit my taste exactly, too bad I can't find that size anywhere.

I have never seen one that size but doing the math it would be 28-inches tall. Their is however a 275/45 R18 that Continental makes. Don't kow much about that tire but it is 27.74 tall
