I agree. I am quite impressed with this new tranny. It has had the heck beaten out of it from hard launches, to tire shreading wheel spins, to high rpm from hp and tq

I know there will be some that will be offended by this, but regardless of your opinions, these are mine...In my search for a builder I've learned to stay away from D.S.S, SHM, Livernois, CHP, and one other in Mississippi, but can't recall their name. Also, Sutton has their motors built by a guy in Tampa, FL.

Good info

Bryan, very sorry to hear about this. But you live, you learn. I'm sure once this is all behind you and you have a new engine in there, you can look back on this as just a stepping stone, like you said. And hopefully even be able to laugh about it.

Oh, and I guess you won't be wanting that electric water pump from me afterall, eh?

Tough break Bryan... sorry to hear it. But, I'm glad your spirits are good, and you view this as an opportunity rather than a setback. I'd like to think I would feel the same way.

Please keep us updated on the post mortem. We're all curious to find out what gave out first.

Sorry to hear you broke it Bryan.
Bet it was one heck of a ride though......an Auto too...seems that auto trans is holding up to brute force after all.

Hope everything works out for ya.
and hope you can keep us updated over the winter months on your new build up.

I don't think it's so much of the tuner's deal. The bottom end isn't as durable as you may think. I've seen the internals and given detailed explanation of the weak points. Here's the thread with some info on the internals-post #19http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?sh...6880&hl=piston#

Been married 12 years, 2 kids. She is not so happy I did this. To tell you the truth, this is "her" car *cough*

I know how it is bro. Mine would normally feel the same but now that she is seeing some seat time in the car at the track she has her own plans for mods for our....I mean her car, shortblock/turbo/tranny. She has given me instructions to make it happen before the season opening next year. I am going to have to tell you that most of the cars that I see winning in Modular Motor/Pure Street are powered by modular motors put together by Modular Performance and Boss330.

Hi Brian,

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I've been researching this since I bought my car. I have put about 550 1/4Mi passes on my 05 this season alone so I won't be going forced induction on stock internals.

I would seriously look into JDM Engineering out of NJ. I know someone in my area who sent his Lightning to them and he runs in the 11's consistently and reliably.

When I went to the Fun Ford Weekend in Epping NH. this summer I sopke with Jim D'Amore and his son Jim Jr. and about 20 of their customers who were also running. Everyone spoke very highly of them.

Their 05 GT was used in the 6 pack to go article in the April issue of MM&FF. I saw their 05 equipped with a Saleen blower running 11.69 on 9# of boost all weekend.

dang,

all this makes me think it would be wiser to to upgrade the internals first, before of slapping on a blower and hoping it doesn't blow up. More costly at first, but in the long run a better approach I think.

What about a souped-up crate motor? Any suggestions?

If there is one good thing about this, it is that the auto tranny looks like it can take some abuse. Bryan, are you going to keep the stock tranny when you switch out the motor, or change them both at the same time?

Not as of yet. I run my own business and work generally about 15-18 hours days. I am hoping to be able to break into it this weekend.

stock tranny. I want it to be as close to a "stock" 05 in the sense of what Ford built. No new 2v or 4v or C4, etc.

Man, 9lbs of boost is not a lot. I thought you would be able to get a lot of life out of our engine with that boost and 462hp.

What let go? have you pulled the engine apart to find out yet?
