You are smelling the Unburnt Hydrocarbons that the catilityc converters would burn off if on.

I understand what Cat's do. I have driven 80% of the time with my window's down in a heavily congested metropolitan area i.e. a lot of stop and go driving and not once have I had a fume problem also with all kinds of wind condition's...I'm not disputing that some are having a problem, obviously if people are getting sick and dizzy something is wrong...There has to be a leak somewhere, whether it's in the exhaust system it's self or a missing plug or something under the car.

Maybe your A/F ratio is so perfect that you are completely burning all your hydrocarbons during combustion, leaving perfectly clean exhaust...

So I have a V6 and am doing custom duals...

How much of a performance difference would there be if I just used my stock cats with an x-pipe VS getting a x-pipe with high-flow cats. (The GT's im sure have alot more flow, so do I really need them?)

Just an update on my gutted cats. After driving yesterday and today with the SLP's... I am not happy at all. And I am pretty sure it's not the SLP's. I think, because I have hollow "cans where the cats were, it's creating backpressure or something and making the exhaust sound really rough. I'm also experiencing a lot of drone. I never knew what drone was because I had never really heard it. But after hearing it really loud, I remember that I did have a little drone when I had the Magnaflows on. I just couldn't really hear it because the Magnaflows were muffling the h-pipe. Now that I have no mufflers, I can hear it VERY well. So, don't anybody go gutting your cats. With good mufflers, you won't hear it. But with no mufflers, it doesn't sound right at all. I'm going to cut the cat "cans" off and weld some 2.5" straight pipe in their place. Then, I'll have a regular off-road h-pipe. That should solve the problem, smooth out the exhaust and hopefully get rid of the drone. I plan to do that within the next week. I'm driving to Houston the weekend after this one, so I'll drive the 300+ miles to get out any kinks in the exhaust. Then, I'll give a report on the sound, as well as record another sound clip.

If I was considering an offroad setup, I'd spring for the random technology cats. They are awesome: same flow & HP as a straight pipe, literally. The cat technology these days is amazing. Then you get the fume reduction and pollution control with the same HP as an offroad pipe. Mustang product is in testing phase right now.

Why would there be an increase in fumes in the cockpit? The exhaust is still exiting in the rear. It seems to me if you had a fume problem in the cab it would indicate an exhaust leak. Now I could understand if you had a side exit set-up or something similar, but if you keep the exhaust exiting out of the rear like stock you shouldn't have a fume problem

no problems with my offroad x and straights --- except if she is idling down in the garage on a cold morning --
