I've had two friends who had offroad pipes say that the fumes are so bad, that they got dizzy at stoplights frequently. Is it really that bad? If so, I might reconsider getting an offroad pipe...

see mikem's post. i wouldn't recommend it for street use if the car is a daily driver. my last car had an off-road h-pipe and i drove it just about everyday. it tends to make the exhaust louder too. i felt sorry for anyone stuck behind me (except for the ricers). i was even told to shut it down once...

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I'm running a custom H-Pipe with no cats and I don't smell any excess exhaust fumes at all. UNLESS... I'm already used to being high

I'm running an off-road x-pipe and don't think it's any worse than regular exhaust fumes. I for one don't tend to let any of my cars idle in the garage, driveway, or drive throughs for any amount of time.

The car is louder, but not that much more, at cruising you don't notice it at all (speed volume = 3).

One of the magazines just did a sound test on exhausts and one of them was stock muffler/no cats. Look it up and see what the numbers say.

Daily driver here too, don't smell any fumes. I also drive with my windows up all the time, so that may be why I don't smell them.

if the concern is enough to make you ask about it then i probably wouldnt do it. if you drive with the windows up then it wont be a prob but you'll notice it at stop lights with the windows down. anytime ya wanna check it out lemme know

I can deal with some fumes, it's just that a few people have said that it's so bad that they get dizzy at stoplights and nauseous frequently. That I can't deal with.

Where do you live in Austin? We've met at 1431 before, I remember you car...

It might be a cheaper to buy an offroad X pipe and add your own cats than to buy an X pipe with high flow cats in it. You will won't gain the benefits of high flow cats if you use your stock ones, but at least you'll benefit from the X pipe.

I'll chime in here too. I've had an off-road h-pipe (stock with gutted cats) for over 6 months now. The smell is pretty bad, but only if you are standing behind the car. I drive with my windows down 95% of the time, and I can't smell it at all from in the car. Maybe if I'm at a red light, and the wind happens to be blowing from the back of the car. But it's not a problem. The only time it bothers me is, like I said, if I'm standing behind the car. Now, cars behind me with their windows down, or with their vents circulating from outside, may be able to smell it. But, what do I care? They can certainly hear my exhaust too back there, and may not like that either. The way I see it, I'm just affecting more of their senses.

I don't understand this one...I have had JBA off-road H-pipes for almost a year now with no fume problems whatsoever. Why would there be an increase in fumes in the cockpit? The exhaust is still exiting in the rear. It seems to me if you had a fume problem in the cab it would indicate an exhaust leak. Now I could understand if you had a side exit set-up or something similar, but if you keep the exhaust exiting out of the rear like stock you shouldn't have a fume problem IMO. After I installed my Long tubes and off-road h-pipe I had it all welded up and checked, maybe that's the difference...

Those guys at MM&FF are wack. That actually sounds pretty good when you revved it. Dunno about that machine gun idle though. Idling after you revved it sounded great though.

If you are in traffic with the widows down You Will Smell the Fumes come in the window. At slow speeds the air behind the car will come forward as in the case of why there is always dust and dirt on top of your rear bumper.
