I am hoping MMR will have their Smooth Intake tube for me too , so I can dyno with the MMR, then the MMR with smooth tube, then dyno with the JLT.

I just want the best performance I can get - G/J on your test. Lets hope we all so fortunate

I had another one on my car already and we made 2 pulls with it first and then immediatley switched. The very next run we had to shut it off at 4k because it was so lean from improved airflow and design, this kit works!
Can you let us know which unit you compared the JLT too.

Also, I thought JLT spent hours getting the tune just right so there was no need for us to take our car to a dyno/tune shop. All we had to do was plug in their tune.

Or is it that you did not use there tune since you had other mods?

Any update on this intake with a DiabloSport Predator? That is still the combo that I really want to run! (well, unless something better comes out from not until I get my car around the first of April!)

Supposedly JLT will also have a diablo unit in the next few weeks. I asked that question when I ordered my kit. Shipping is fast, I had it in 2 days.

Ok guys I installed the JLT unit today. Our car has only 440 miles on it. I tested it against another competitor. The car was run at identical temperatures and the dyno room temp was even controlled to around 65-68 degrees. I was a bit of a non believer, but the JLT put down 12.3rwhp more and 15.1rwtq more! We didn't even spend a buch of time tuning because I had to get home. We just got the a/f ratio safe and left it alone for now. It picked up these numbers almost across the entire pull. My car has many other mods including exhaust and cmp's. I cant reveal my numbers because of the article coming in 5.0, but just wanted to pass this on.

That is GREAT!! I knew it would work better.
Thanks for the results. I'll talk to you next week in Bradenton.
Later
Jay

so is it safe to assume the Heat shield is useless in this situation? i already assumed this but after reading this post Im glad Im not the only one that thinks its a needless accessory.

sounds like the JLT is living up to its hype. Great job Jay! there's no better way to sell your product than with a bunch of moter heads praising your design.

Everyone seems to conclude, from testing and design, that the airflow in the 05 is much different that previous years (that required you to get cold air from the fenders). But I have no proof The only opininos most of us can offer is the flow of air behind the headlight, the distance away from the engine and the potential opening below the ai filter.

I have a heat shield in the works and it will be ready in a few weeks or less. Do I think it's needed? Not really, but many do and want it.
At 20 mph there is so much air flow under the hood IAT temps are very close to ambiant air temps.
Thanks all,
Jay

Fellas (ladies too)- I appreicate erveyones input. I am new to all this and received our mustang last Thursday. I already have Mangaflows catbacks installed and plan on doing some more mods.

After reading many posts - I'm sold on the JLT. I'm still pondering which tuner to go with but I'm leaning towards the Diablo.

Cheers--J

Now that is what I wanted to hear Jay! My car should be built TODAY! It wasn't that hard to be patient before, but now I am starting to dwell on it too much...

There is no brace and no need for one. It is very strong and stiff.
Jay, the article in a recent magazine mentions that you make a "RAI" (Ram Air Intake) and a "CAI", with the RAI being the pipe and filter, and the CAI putting the MAS into the fender well with the filter. Are you going to offer a CAI for the 05?
